Guyana | Aged | 40.0% ABV | Pot and Column Still Distilled
El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.
Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

Smooth, spicy. fruity this is an absolute stonking rum for the money 😉
A drinkable rum, a bit bland but fairly balanced. Maybe a tad overpriced at 30€, but it's a nice bottle and it's viable to approach rums. It's also dosed, but within reason.
Regrettably, this is not demerara. Go fetch some hamilton for that.
Had it some time ago so won't do tasting notes, but it mostly tasted like brown sugar (the regular kind, not the fancy hipster stuff like moscovado) with some vanilla and oak. More or less what you'd expect dosed aged rum to taste like.
Lots of ripe fruit, honey, caramel and a little vanilla on the nose which all coke through in testing as well. It’s a sweet rum but sweet in all of the right ways. Definitely worth grabbing a bottling and trying.
I thought it would be alot sweeter based on reviews. But it really isn't, and it has a dry finish. It's really unique and has a distinct taste. Solid sipper!
It's a good smooth rum with nice aroma and gentle taste.
Didnt love this when I first popped it, came back to it a month later and am a fan.
Since the sweetness has been reduced, it's great for sipping and one of the best 12 y.o. rums out there. At the start, the high esters are rounded off by aromas of sweet vanilla and dark chocolate, oak and tobacco. The taste and aftertaste are bitter chocolate, vanilla, not alcoholic. More roundness would make it outstanding.

Lush tropical fruit and spice nose with hints of honey and dark sugar...
"El Dorado 12-Year rum review by Mike at Ultimate Rum Guide"
It’s sweeter with more delicate fruit flavours coming to the fore.
"It’s very sweet and quite light. It’s very easy drinking. As a sipping rum it as easy to drink."

Best mixing drink in the world 6 out of 10
Tried to sip it - too sharp, with an alcoholic taste, being a young one. Complex aromas are hidden under this sharpness and only a matter of fantasy. Might be the best mixer in the world though. It’s reassuring to know its age corresponds to the label. The cork broke in my hands though, when trying to open it… not nice.
