This rum was recommended to me by a co-worker. I've tried once, and this was an instant sugar rush! Super sweet, like eating cotton candy. Not much on the finish, as the sugar and sweetness overpowers the elements of this rum. If you need to, I guess it's ok.
This was a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed the taste and smell. Nice banana smell and taste. This would make a great Banana’s Foster. Definitely will keep this one in stock.
More like a rum liquer than your normal run. Sweet as candy.
Really sweet, but okay for me, because I like it sweet.
It strongly smells like banana, but it hasn't a too strong banana taste.
Smooth.
The first thing that struck me was the bottle itself, it looked cool enough, but I immediately noticed the % and became suspicious that this was even truly a "Rum". Upon closer inspection of the bottle, you realize the clever wording "Bumbu Rum Co." nowhere else on the bottle does it classify itself as a Rum (most real Rum is labeled this way) which shows its truly a liqueur. That aside, for what its worth it certainly tastes good and if you, like me bought it for the bottle anyways you won't be too terribly disappointed. I think it is ok straight, but where it shines is in mixed drinks. In the end, tasty as it is in the right concoction, a 7 is the best I can warrant giving this because it isn't a true Rum.
Yes, more liquor then rum, yes, only 35%, yes too much banana flavour, BUT gives perfect caribbenan feeling, this lightly drink is a perfect summer drink, my friends and me, we all like it, and the girls too. It’s unique, and have a very stylish, old school bottle.
Heerlijke rum om met een ijsklontje erin lekker op de bank te genieten, ruikt z o et en zacht en zo smaakt ie ook, met een lekkere tinteling in je gehemelte, topper!
Veľmi chutný rum s nasládlou chuťou s príznakom vanilky a bananou. Pre začiatočníkov s rumom odporúčam ochutnať, pre tých pokročilejších sa môže zdať byť moc sladký a preferujú viac korenistejšie chute.
A lot of aromas in this rum. Maybe... Too many for my taste but excellent for some cocktails especially for people who don't care about something very fine but rather want something tasty to enjoy. I can't drink it neat cause of the very strong aromas but i enjoy it with 2 ice cubes and a slile of orange. Also i like to just wet the glass with a few drops and then poor a bourbon. Gives the bourbon a nice smell without messing with the taste too much.
Not a fan of white rums, this one is pretty good, a bit smoky in palate.
The nose smells very sweet. Llashings of caramel and toffee.
"It barely even tastes like alcohol in any way shape or form. No mid palate and definitely no finish not even the slightest hint of alcohol burn. Maybe a little bit of woodiness as it goes down."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Banana, vanilla,.......but where's the rum?

The first thing you can say about this drink is that it definitely has plenty of banana. I hesitate to call it rum. As others have said it's more of a banana/vanilla liqueur. The first sip confirms the aroma.... with a bunch (no pun intended) of banana and vanilla. Warming and then a slightly bitter banana (surprise) finish. I don't think I'd want to have to drink this very often.
There is not really much if any rum character that I can find in this. Too much spice, banana, vanilla etc. It's sweet but not sugary if that makes sense. The flavor of the drink coats the palate and lingers on and on. The longer I sit here with it next to me the more I dislike it. The aroma is overpoweringly banana. I like sweet rums, dry rums and those right down the middle but I don't like this.
I'd have a hard time recommending this to anyone who wants to taste rum. There are a lot of people out there who like spiced rums and think that is what rum is all about but even to them I'd say just stick with Captain Morgan or CM Private Stock. It's infinitely better and much less expensive.
At $36 in Ohio it's WAY, actually obscenely overpriced. Don't waste your money.
