The smell kind of reminded me of pear notes like when they would have in Glen Leavitt scotch however, much more sweeter does have 35% rum. So it tastes of pear notes or apple notes Also vanilla. It is a sipping rum, but it is sweet. Not like Malibu. But it is a sipping rum to put over ice.
I'm a relative-newbie rum consumer and there seems to be some fuss about Bambu so I gave it a try. Despite what's on the label this is NOT rum, it's a low-proof banana liqueur and there are better ones for half the price. It's initially okay on ice as a change, I'm not yet pouring it down the sink, though the bottle may get dusty before I visit it again. Just don't buy this believing it's rum, I learned the hard way after coughing up $50. Even diluted with Coke, the artificial banana flavor is overwhelming and I LIKE other banana concoctions such as the $20 Blue Chair Bay Banana Rum Cream...I don't have sophisticated tastes. Half an hour after drinking it I required a beer to get the lingering banana taste off my palate. I 've stored it in a cupboard with my liqueurs, I keep my actual booze in a different place. Maybe I can find something to mix it with that's somewhat palatable, though I have little hope. It was a costly mistake. As I said, I'm pretty new to this and I hope I'm not the first person who's ever made a made a misguided purchase then wondered what to do with it....
I use "rum" Bumbu to convince my friends (no rum lovers) to start drink rum. Fortunately, after a while they move forward and start to try different rums.
Bumbu is my favorite rum. It has really intense smell of vanilia and banana. It's really sweet. Really good looked bootle.
This stuff is best neat, IMO. A little too much banana flavor for me, but not in the way of a flavored bottom-shelf bottle. Lots of brown sugar if you let it sit in your mouth for a few seconds. Absolutely destroyed the 375ml bottle I bought, haha.
Very sweet, yet stilleasily drinkable for me. on the other hand the sugary taste kills it so it's not a good rum for enjoying the tones. Women in the family likes it though.
This rhum is definitly not for everyone. I think they targeted mass consumers, making it very commercial, sweet, and tasty. I like it though. Its identity is unique. I drink it as a digestive, with a cheese cake. Thats not bad… ☺️
"It barely even tastes like alcohol in any way shape or form. No mid palate and definitely no finish not even the slightest hint of alcohol burn. Maybe a little bit of woodiness as it goes down."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
