Superbe bouteille de Madagascar, nez floral épicé, bouche puissante et pleine d'alcool. Par la suite, de notes de bois et de caramel.
I tasted the Dzama Vintage rum 1998, which is itself interesting for being produced in Madagascar. The rum is made of molasses, its light brown color. It is really strong in taste but somehow the feeling is nice, it has a great afterburn. There is also a hint of dark chocolate in the taste.
Overall a nice rum for a rum tasting, to compare one from a quite unknown region.
it´s good. bold start, medium middle and yet a short ending. maybe there should be more in the finish, but its ok. banana, grassy, some less smoke and the typical fruitiness of a sugar cane juice rhum.
A nice rum. However a bit strong in taste, and also the after taste is marked by alcohol, has some fruit in it which makes it interesting. The outfit of the bottle, covered with dried sugarcane leaves, gives a special plus to this rum.
Beautiful bottle covered with banana leaf. This rum has a nice coppery color with gray green reflections. Floral and vegetal notes, very pleasant to the nose. A presence of unripe exotic fruits and orange zest. On the palate, citrus fruits with orange and vanilla are present. A short finish with spicy notes, pepper. Real rate : 7,5
Offered in an orginial bottle ( with strange spout :-) ), this Dzama is quite clear in the glass with small legs.
On the nose, it is light, fresh, fruity ( slightly oriented to citrus aromas ) and also spicy specially the pepper.
When you sip it, your mouth confirms what you nose told you earlier. Light and spicy, the pepper even burns your tongue. Quite a special one which has to be tasted.
Dzama 1998
Rhum Vieux
Aged 10 Years
45%
Country of origin: Madagascar
Color: Chestnut Oloroso
Nose:
Sweet and a little reluctant. The smell is dominated by aromas of exotic plants and spices - tons of cardamon, some sandalwood, cacao and coffee. Furthermore it is a little spicy (Jalapeños).
Palate:
Smooth and creamy with notes of toffee, cappuccino and mocca.
Finish:
Medium long on notes of toffee. A little spicy.
I liked this one! Smooth drinking, came as a tip from my local liquorstore and was not dissapointed. Funny bottle design with those leaves!
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
