Had a 5 cl sample from Rum Ratings Tasting Club for this tasting.
The short aging, 18 Months, in oak have made great impact on this rum.
I tasted it neat, but it will probably also be great in cocktails and ti-punch’s.
In nose it’s very fresh, juicy, peppery, dry and round with floral and fruity notes.
In mouth and on palate it’s peppery, intense, dry, vegetal, spicy, pungent, funky and warming.
During the rather long finish pepper and other spices makes it warming.
Overall I would say that this is the best Rhum Ambre (1-2 years aging) I’ve tasted so far.

Iets te scherp qua smaak naar mijn goesting. Hierdoor gaat subtiliteit van smakenpallet wat verloren
Sympa avec des jus de fruit. Mais avec trop peu de caractère pour me plaire pur.
It tastes like a well aged, grassy agricole. It has a lot of character but is still smooth.
I bought this rum when in France a few weeks ago. It’s decidedly delicious. I think it’s a well rounded aged Agricole, displaying typical agricole elements. Funk, grassy, fruity and great neat, or in a mix. I really enjoy this rhum.
50% ABV. Aged 18 months in oak. Huge nose. Cane, grass, corn, brine, funk. Peach? Same on the palate. Fairly rough. Not getting much oak, except for hint of tannins on the finish, which is short.
My, what a rum! I've been nursing my bottle for quite a long time now and putting off a review because it's such an interesting, complex sip. But now it's almost gone! This is very similar to its younger sibling, but with a touch of aging (very different from the vieux, which is only 40%). A LF blanc or amber is not easily disguised in a cocktail (such as a Donga Punch). It's lots of fun, but for dedicated agricole and funk fans. Just wish it were a tad cheaper.

Delicious for an agricole fan

I get some type of fruit
And then the mild whisky, and agricole flavors. Complex, vanilla, plums, citrus. Has heat since it’s barely aged, potential turn off
