It comes off as a rather impersonal distillate brought down to a proof where sweet lemon and vanilla notes could be added... regardless, it certainly has additives and is not quite a smooth sipper. It does go well with a squeeze of lemon and soda water, however, and adds a bright dimension to cocktails with rums which truly carry their own weight. Otherwise, it feels like a flavored vodka masquerading as an exotic rum. It’s not the latter, and I wouldn’t go out of my way for this, but you might want to try this if you are a fan of flavored spirits under $25 usd.
Most white rums are kind of dull but Dzama seriously will rock your socks off! It's a clear white rum from Madagascar. It has a serious limy-citrus smell and flavour that immediately made me think of Sprite. It is an excellent mixer and it is pretty good for a white rum to sip! Be cautious when drinking with Sprite, it tastes too good!
This is a great choice to sip on. The flavor is not like any other, totally unique. High citrus flavor so utterly smooth its crazy. Considering this is only aged for 3 months the smoothness is incredible. I love this rum, so utterly high in rum flavor with that citrus zing, a very full flavored rum with a twist. Very highly rated for a white rum and a great price, easily one of my new favorites.
Tried a few from Dzama recently and thinking back to this white of theres and instantly all i can remember is Wow, thats a lot of citrus! There's more to follow on the palate once you get over it though and it turns out to be quite complex afterwards for such a young rum. Its ok, and would be interesting to play around with them citrus notes in a cocktail but certainly not a sipper...
