Diplomatico 2002

This was not really what I expected. It's nice but I think even the simpler, cheaper Reserva Exclusiva is tasting better. It's elegant and a bit more demanding, some cognac tones to the usual Diplomatico taste of vanilla and bitter orange zest. Good but not my choice

Après le Single Vintage 2001 que j’avais beaucoup aimé, je passe maintenant au 2002. Il faut se faire une raison chez Diplomatico chaque année est exceptionnelle ;-) et je crois que nous aurons droit aux versions 2003, 2004 et années suivantes !....
Et c’est vrai qu’il est bon. Ayant eu la chance de le comparer le même jour à toute la gamme Diplomatico, c’est pour moi le meilleur rapport qualité prix. Très au-dessus du Reserva Exclusiva. Moins puissant que l’Ambassador et moi s de longueur en bouche. Il bénéficie cependant d’un bel équilibre, il reste complexe et on se plait à rechercher chacune de ses saveurs.

Caramel, fruity, sweet taste. Aftertaste is quite subtle, but elegant. Maybe a bit too sweet and a bit too delicate. For that price I expected more flavour.

I drank this side by side with the Diplomatico 2000 and 2001, which are some of my all time favorite rums. The bottle was identical with the exception of the vintage. Smell and taste were nearly identical. If fact, I tried to distinguish them in a blind tasting, and struggled to tell them apart.

Has an amazing smell of rich butter toffee, caramel, and butterscotch, with a light sherry taste that isn't strong enough to detract from the rum. Taste is an amazing follow up to the nose. So good, the 43%abv strength is perfect. Simply an amazing rum!

This 2002 version is smoother than the 2001 version. Climate conditions are certainly the reason . Notes of honey , caramel, vanilla and exotic fruits. Super sweet , very long finish. It is closer to the vintage 2000. Another very good rum from Diplomatico.

Its nice but for some reason i find the 2000 tasted better maybe im wrong

très agréable, plaisant et parfumé, c'est un rhum qui fait aimer le rhum...
ok, il est sucré, mais n'en demeure pas moins excellent excepté le prix qui lui pique un peu quand même.
il laisse en bouche un parfum qui fait qu'on y retourne obligatoirement!!!

I would put this up there with the great aged rums like the Abuelo Centuria. Graceful balance between sweet and spicy. A pleasure to have that I will be cherishing for as long as I can!

I experienced it not as rich in flavour as the 2001 version.
Would like to try them both in comparisson at the same time as memories fails me somewhat.

Very similar to the 2000, and very nearly as good. My kind of rum, nice and fruity, delicate, with no burn at all. Excellent as can be expected of Diplomático.
