First surinamese rum, was very smooth and not very strong in the end. Was best by itself and not mixed with Cola

The label says "Perfect for cocktails and mixed drinks" and it is. No added sugar thus light alcohol burn in the end, but it can't be noticed when mixed.
One of the better mixers you could get.

4 **** as a standalone

You drink it and it feels like drinking water. Then the slightly sweet taste comes with an alcohol kick which warms your insides as a cheap drink would do. Kind of Captain Morgan feel, but cheaper. Not worth it for a straight drink. Might be ok for a cocktail... I guess....?

7******* for cocktails

Works great on a Grog. It really sucks as a standalone, but is indeed good for cocktails!

I first tasted Borgoe Extra back in 2005 in the middle of the rainforest in Suriname. I assumed it was a very high-end, top-shelf rum because it was smoother than any other rum I'd tasted. When we asked our guide to bring us some more and asked him how much it cost, he told us it was very expensive -- a whopping $6 per (750 ml) bottle! I was stunned and wanted to buy cases of it, but they would not allow it to go through customs for some reason.
I do still wish I could buy it here in the USA. I'm sure it costs much more now, but undoubtedly worth every penny!

Sweet and soft taste , elegant, caramel/butterscotch, vanilla, relatively long finish. One of my all time favorites!

Good balanced rum, no alcohol burn, and many notes are presents especially wood and caramel. It looks like Diplomatico Mantuano, but less sweet and more expressive. Borgoe is a bit less soft.

It's an "ok"-rum for me, but Borgoe has better rums to offer...
