Dos Maderas PX 5 + 5 rum is made from a combination of rums from Barbados and Guyana. It is unique becuase of its triple ageding process where for 5 initial years the rum is aged in the Carribean in oak casks. Next PX 5 + 5 is aged in Spain for 5 years in sherry casks, and lastly for 2 more years in even older sherry casks.
The Dos Maderas family of rums are produced by Bodegas Williams & Humbert, which is a well known Spanish winery founded by Sir Alexander Williams in the late 1800s. The region of Spain where the winery is located has a climate perfectly suited for wine and is known as Europe's wine cellar.

This Dos Maderas is a special rum matured five years and then five more in Spain (5+5). A sweet rum that Diplomatico lovers will enjoy for sure!

Very smooth and easy to drink. Cherry taste is simply perfect and although I am not a big fan of caramel, I aprreciate it here. If it would be a little less sweet, it would definitelly make it to my top 5.

Kunne slet ikke finde det søde og runde i denne rom. Kunne reddes lidt med en isterning. Den ender vist i cola

This rum needs few minutes in the glass then taste is sherry and sweet. Nice tones of dried, nice colour. Easy drinkable

The aroma has hints of cherry , walnut and caramel , but it is most marked at the Dos Maderas PX is the taste ! It has powerful features of Sherry - it will be like a wild mix of cherry , vanilla and barrel !

I bought this one as a gift to a friend, Diplomatico lover, without really knowing what it is about. And yes, I couldn't wait for testing moment. First of all I was surprised by aroma, I already tried some rums from sherry barrels, but never had such significant experience. And it continues with taste. If Diplomatico is sweet, this is close to pure sugar cube. Really. Interesting enough as I earlier said, but still doesn't beat my beloved Santiago de Cuba. Final note: Diplomatico loving friend loved it!

Aroma of rum flavoured gingerbread and strong tones of smoked oak cask in taste with sweet finish. It is always nice to have one in the bar..
Added sugar: 26g per bottle

This dark and dense rum in the nose is intense, you can smell for hours, fruits, cynamon, orange, sweetness, smooth and tasty is one of a kind rum IMO.

I have had it with sweet rums. I find rums which have been artificially sweetened harder to drink than actual sweet liqueurs, for some reason. Dos Maderas is sickly sweet. Leaves you completely saturated with sugar after one glass. There is some depth but the added sugar makes it much harder to appreciate any flavour. It is smooth though and would appeal to a certain palate.
