Dos Maderas PX 5 + 5 rum is made from a combination of rums from Barbados and Guyana. It is unique becuase of its triple ageding process where for 5 initial years the rum is aged in the Carribean in oak casks. Next PX 5 + 5 is aged in Spain for 5 years in sherry casks, and lastly for 2 more years in even older sherry casks.
The Dos Maderas family of rums are produced by Bodegas Williams & Humbert, which is a well known Spanish winery founded by Sir Alexander Williams in the late 1800s. The region of Spain where the winery is located has a climate perfectly suited for wine and is known as Europe's wine cellar.

It didn't work out for me, i admit i will have to give it another chance, maybe i had a weak moment or some sort of taste abundance.
A good rum worth its cheap price. Especially for beginners very recommendable. I would still prefer the diplomatico Reserva exclusiva over this rum both for taste and price quality.
Smooth, not overly sweet. Slight cherry aftertaste.
Started the night with this one, proved to be a very good choice. Had it with one rock, and without as well. Warm, crisp, moderately sweet. A must
I enjoyed this rum. First one I have had in a while. Yes it is mild but tasty.
A beautiful delicate aroma of raisins with a finish of walnuts and burnt wood. Gentle, sweeter, with a distinct taste of raisins. Dark brown color. Quality rum. I can recommend it to everyone, even beginners...
As noted below, this may not be everyone's taste, but I think the heavy sherry finish makes it one of my top rums. It's unique and not just another average rum.
On the label, there is "spirit drink based on rum". Probably regulations thing, but still it means there was much sugar added. It was, and for a good outcome. My personal choices are more "dry" rums, but it is so far by most pleasant rum experience for anybody not accustomed with rum hobby. If you have somebody new to this and want them to be charmed by a rum - pick this one or Botucal Reserva Exclusiva. This one is even more sweet, yet still far from "too sweet even for my sweet tooth" Bumbu style.
When i made my first steps in to the rum world i thought that this is something spectacular, however after some unsugared bajan and jamaican my palate was changed. I brought another bottle to see if can find the same good feeling as before. My disappointment surprise me, as i thought this was a decent rum. Too sweet for me now. Maybe for a present to a friend who likes sweet and candys. The sherry overpowers the rum and you will find nothing but sugar bomb here. With the same luck they can put a younger blends and nobody will notice a thing.
Rich, plump raisins dominate the palate.
"Quite drying on the palate so the mid palate. A slight oakiness and a little touch of the oak barrel."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Impressive. Super smooth, balanced and wonderful taste. If I had sth to complain, I'd say it lacks a bit of complexity. However, this is a sipping rum I can enjoy one glass after another ;)
Tasting Notes: dried fruites and licorice.
