Dos Maderas PX 5 + 5 rum is made from a combination of rums from Barbados and Guyana. It is unique becuase of its triple ageding process where for 5 initial years the rum is aged in the Carribean in oak casks. Next PX 5 + 5 is aged in Spain for 5 years in sherry casks, and lastly for 2 more years in even older sherry casks.
The Dos Maderas family of rums are produced by Bodegas Williams & Humbert, which is a well known Spanish winery founded by Sir Alexander Williams in the late 1800s. The region of Spain where the winery is located has a climate perfectly suited for wine and is known as Europe's wine cellar.

A wonderfully full-bodied rum suitable for evening sipping. The taste is full of raisins and figs with a sweet finish with hints of vanilla
First strong spicy alcohol taste kicks in. After a while, I can feel taste od sweet molasses and rummy cane sugar with a pinch of old cask wood.
To be honest, based on the reviews I expected a little bit more. Maybe it is just my current mood, but this rum does not work so well. But, it has amazing smell, you can literally feel cane sugar around you.
A lot of dried fruit on the nose and in taste, slight bit of sweetness in a fruity/brown sugar sort of way. Has a fair amount of burn and definitely warms up you up going down. Would definitely pair well with a cigar. Good for a celebratory drink or a cozy start to a night off. Has a lot of character, feels like you could find new notes with every sip but is pretty complex.
Bravo ! Un de mes préférés !
When i made my first steps in to the rum world i thought that this is something spectacular, however after some unsugared bajan and jamaican my palate was changed. I brought another bottle to see if can find the same good feeling as before. My disappointment surprise me, as i thought this was a decent rum. Too sweet for me now. Maybe for a present to a friend who likes sweet and candys. The sherry overpowers the rum and you will find nothing but sugar bomb here. With the same luck they can put a younger blends and nobody will notice a thing.
