What can you say, the Diplomatico rums seem to be quite popular here. But then again, so is MacDonalds or Jack Daniels. Popular taste is rarely a good indication of quality. This stuff is sickeningly sweet and poorly made.

A good rum, but still has quite a bit of an alcohol bite. That takes away from the underlying flavors.

If you think of Diplomatico, just take the 12yo exclusiva, there is not that big price difference, but the taste difference is more than huge.

This is quite good rum, but when you have to choose Reserva / Reserva Exclusiva I decide to older one. The taste of rum is sharper with a more intense reverberation, but of course it's a good drink.

I have a love hate with Diplomatico, this bottle was wonderful, but some of their other stuff is odd.
