Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva rum is distilled from molassis in copper pot stills and then aged in small oak casks for on average 12 years before being bottled.
Produced in Venezuela, which has a rich rum history dating to 1896, the Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva distillery is located on the northern slopes of the Andes mountains.

Very smooth delicious rum. It has nice smell and awesome sweet taste. Honey, cream, some fruits, oak. One od my favourites.
I bought this Rum yesterday. It smells so sweety and I feel combination of caramel and ''honey''. I like honey rum. The color is very beautiful. I recommend you this rum for night with book or listen to orchestra in a chair.

I picked this bottle up in Buffalo as i could not get it in Ontario and it has become an instant favourite.Great tasting rum here with a very smooth finish. On the nose, I detect coffee, dark chocolate, mild tobacco, spice and sweetness like dried fruit. It is easy sipping and provides a nice warming feeling. Great for desert or to unwind at the end of the day.
I pair this with Monte Cristo #2 or enjoy with a slice of fine chocolate for the non smokers. Great rum for the dollar and a top shelf sipper for me.

Smooth rum, great sipper. Need to taste many more rums before giving a 10 to any one rum.
Edit. I have to clip this back to an 8 because of how sweet it is.

Gorgeous color, but overly sweet and a little too cloying for me. Almost syrupy. Granted, I'm in more of a Straight Rye phase at the moment so that could have a lot to do with it. I may have to revise later after my palate has settled down.

i don't wax and wane lyrical anymore in my reviews of liquids anymore as it just seems it's too personal specific....
however, i do think this rum carries with it great liquid and a good choice for both beginners and experienced rum drinkers.
may be due to their distilling methods but it has great potential in flavor profile. can't tell if the liquid will get any better with further aging but a great tasting rum.
probably great value for beginners and moderates... but for those well versed, i wouldn't say any further as they would already have passed own judgments.

This rum isn't available where I currently live and that just is a sin in of its self. Every time I make a trip back home I end up getting a case of these bad boys (12 bottles in total i know that equals out to 2 actual cases). Mostly because I was so impressed by this rum that I brought it to work to sample and now every single coworker of mine is also in love with this bottle.
Additionally, this rum is everything I love in a spirit, stilled in copper pot, beautiful packaging, deep flavors, and a long line of other products to get into.
Flavor wise it has a long deep flavor that really lets you settle into the glass. It's flavors are also delicate, and yet still linger in your moth as you finish your sip. And even though I love the sweetness this rum gets, the best part of the rum is how well it nuttiness balances with that sweetness.
