Well that's a terrific Rum ! A great choice to sip "straight from the bottle" ;)
On it's own it would deserve may be an 8/10, but it's very fair price makes it win the extra point to 9/10.
Sweet, subtile, balanced, a great choice for an everyday Rum !
Very smooth and tasty rum... great for sipping or in a cocktail... try a Presidente with this... beautiful...

The nose of this rum is of luxurious burnt sugar or bitter caramel. The first taste that hits your tongue is a rich molasses base with vanilla overtones. However, for me, there's a separation between the bitterness of the initial sensation and the sweetness (perhaps too sweet) finish. I enjoy my run at room temperature and neat and perhaps this run would benefit from something extra. Although it's a pleasant sipping rum, I find a couple of measures is the limit. I will however, try some of the other Diplomatico rums as they clearly know what they are doing.
Decided to dive into the world of rum this summer and this was my first buy after extensive research (and what was available locally). Can't imagine a much better choice. Had it on ice in a white wine glass. Smooth, cane sugar taste with no burn in the mouth or throat. Like chewing on a sugar cane. Hits you in the belly but in a warm, lovely way. Pumped to try, then contrast with other brands and styles!
This rum is soft en gentle for you, right from the first start and stays that way till the end.
The smell is soft en sweet with all kinds of flavours opening up, preparing your mouth for whats to come. Then you take a sip of this lovely potion and you get exactly what you want after smelling it; lots of flavour in the most subtle way possible. It might even smother you with that soft and warm feeling.
Seems harmeless at first, but this baby will make you want it.
Lovely rum, excellent made stuff.
As a great rum fan, this happens to be my personal favourite. Enjoy on the rocks or straight up.

Diplomatico reserva exclusiva is a top-notch, yet affordable rum, made for serious rum lovers, to sip and enjoy in specific days and times.
Colour: dark caramel
Aroma: Chocolate, tofee, caramel, all accompanying a great oak base.
Flavour: rich, thick.
Taste: Caramel tofee, chocolate with an essence of vanilla and sweet alcoholic tones.
This is a must have/ try. One of my favourite rums. Only for sipping, preferably straight up or with a small ice cube or just a tiny portion of water, in order to release more aromas and discover its true potential.
Tips: Accompany it with some pieces of good quality bitter chocolate or/ and a light-medium, preferably canarian, cigar.

Un rhum qui ne décevra personne. A avoir dans sa rhumateque.
"The palate evokes chocolate sauce and the sweet toffee, fudge and tropical fruit flavours from the nose"
"The nose is dominated by notes of caramel, toffee and crème. On the back end of the aromas, I can detect a hint of smoke and pineapple"
via Inu A Kena
Smells sweet. It is fruity, oranges, grapes and raisins with scents of chocolate and a sweet almost syrupy.
"The tasting notes on the site are very accurate vanilla, fudge/toffee sauce are noticeable as are notes of vanilla and a finish which is slightly bitter like cocoa which leaves a hit of oakiness on the taste buds. The finish is pretty short. ."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Interesting rum: cool bottle, good price, but a different taste. Lots of flavor, not all of it goes together well. Still a good one to try.
