Very nice avec, but I wouldn't place it near the top choices. It's fairly sweet and rich in both nose and palate. Vanilla tones, fuits, bitter orange and all around a classic rum.

My first rom that I have ever tasted. On the taste is not forgotten. And although among the commercial brand, loyal and stay like him back. The rich and adventurous taste.
I like rum's with more sweetnes and citrusy or vanilla flavour/smell...this one was just not it...

In the price range for which you can buy this bottle it doesn't have many competitors. Very good quality rum.

Took me several years in my rum rum journey to run across this and I'm glad I did. This is my favorite rum of all time. Neat and sip it, anything is wasting a perfect rum. Nose full of sweet caramel, baking spice and molasses. The palate is just as the nose and so smooth. The finish is nice, short to medium and no burn. Priced locally around $40 it is a true gem. I have more expensive bottles in the cabinet, but this one always beckons me.
"The palate evokes chocolate sauce and the sweet toffee, fudge and tropical fruit flavours from the nose"
"The nose is dominated by notes of caramel, toffee and crème. On the back end of the aromas, I can detect a hint of smoke and pineapple"

Smells sweet. It is fruity, oranges, grapes and raisins with scents of chocolate and a sweet almost syrupy.
"The tasting notes on the site are very accurate vanilla, fudge/toffee sauce are noticeable as are notes of vanilla and a finish which is slightly bitter like cocoa which leaves a hit of oakiness on the taste buds. The finish is pretty short. ."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Among the largely available, industrial rum, I think this one is a good product. I am a bit fan of Agricole Rhum so, you would not expect me to like this Rum in particular as it is quite the opposite. I have a bottle bought around 2010, so the taste of currently available Diplomatico may be different.
Nose: sugary notes, maybe caramel, not much more, this will be a gentle ride I think.
Taste: sugar is maintained as the main note, I like that it is not overpowering, you can actually taste (although briefly) some smoky oak, toffee, caramel, and lime.
I love this gentle taste, but unfortunately it has no persistence whatsoever.
