The bottle is very nice and even has a glass cork.
That is all the positive feedback I can give about this drink.

I refuse to call this a rum! It is an abdomination and for a ridiculous price nevertheless. Because of the high rating here I decided to try a bottle. My buddy and me decided to try drinking this stuff in different ways: let it rest for 5 mins, let it rest for 30 mins, add a splash of water, add multiple splashes of water. But we both ended up throwing away what was left in our glasses. I have never threw away anything but this is really horrible.

The nose of this rum first grabs you with the thickness of a humid woody note. Then the familiar markers of the Dictador brand follow: coffee first, then nuts and caramel that form a lovely gourmet praline. A few touches of rancio, that is to say, of oxidation and nuts in the manner of a yellow wine, come and go for a much more unusual profile. Molasses and toasted wood then offer a picture of toasted bread or brioche and maple syrup. This nose is overall very dark and roasted.
The opening will allow all the aromas to bind together, one continues to think of a maple syrup, but with an extra opulence. These aromas are rather dry, but we can guess a certain roundness, characterised by caramel. One imagines that the rum would go well with a dessert coffee.

On the palate, the coffee is both dark and sweet, almost tart. The caramel notes spread out on the tongue while the roasted side brings contrast and a certain astringency. The caramel is salty and gives off strong, woody, toasty flavours. The contact with the palate is soft and sweet despite these dark brown notes.

On the finish, the whole continues to melt and take the form of a thick maple syrup that flows gently.

We had only a small bottle to taste, but this was really good. Unfortunately it is not too cheap, but I am planning to order a full bottle.

Rich creamy butterscotch notes rule this rum. The sweet vanilla starts from the moment you open the bottle - you know its been opened! It is a full-bodied rum but doesn't have the heavy spice and woodiness that is expected from 25+ year old rum. On the tongue, the creaminess of the butterscotch is back, a bit like Werthers Originals in a way but this time there is a low level hint of spiciness like pepper. The finish just keeps on going and going, with the pepper gone, you know you've had a good rum and it never wants to leave. £105 retail means its going on the top shelf, and easily so as its a solid 9.

Rating: 9/10

Smell - sweet, vanilla, rich caramel butterscotch notes, hint of coffee
Taste - hint of pepper, caramel, vanilla, creamed butterscotch
After Taste - long length, charred wood, vanilla

If Rum could be a comfort food, this would be it. It is surprisingly dessert-like with a very difficult-to-find combination of smoothness, boldness, rich flavors and delicate sweets. So far, this is the least amount of burn I have tasted in a Rum. Similar in that way to selva ray green, but thicker and more flavorful. Not as refined as selva ray, but still smooth and sweet. Goes down easy. I drank two bottles by myself on vacation with no trouble at all. Absolutely delicious chilled and neat. When I do tastings for friends, I use this bottle to showcase a beautiful sweet rum and the opposite of a Barbados style. Gorgeous. The only rum I ordered 5 bottles of. Also, it is far smoother and better than the Perpetual. 9.6

Very smooth, lots of flavour, well balanced. Coffee aroma like the other Dictador. But the first seep is very disturbing if you re looking for a "true"rum.

This is an excellent rum for sipping. Much better than perpetual. One of the best rums I have ever tasted.

Nose - Vanilla, cacao, toffee, cognac and hints of walnuts with puding. Decently sweet smell. Aromas are blending very well. Complex smell. If you leave it in glass for longer time, it will also develop honey smell. More pleasant scent than XO perpetual (more drier) wich is often compared with this one. Really nice sophisticated scents, wow.

Palete - Vanilla, toffee in front, little bit of coffee, walnuts and anise behind. Very good finish with long aftertaste leaving walnut taste in mouth. One step sweeter than XO perpetual (dry). I am fine with both of them, but I prefer this one, because its more complex and sweetness is making it more interesting. Its not overly sweet so it does not cloak individual flavors. This one tasted more like "rum", the other one is dry chrismass walnut bomb. Both of them are really good... you can find similarities but this one is much better in my opinion. Luxurious drink.
