That doesn't really make sense does it? Well, I bought it, want to add it, but haven't tasted it. So there you go.
At 151 it isn't really a straight shot drink. Although it is quite tasty over ice. My personal preference though is a dark and stormy. One part to three parts of a very strong ginger beer and it is amazing.

I don't have this often, but when a cocktail calls for it, I am rarely disappointed.

This only recently became available in my area. Easily the smoothest 151 I've tried so far. It's might be just a touch hot neat to be considered a true sipper, but I find that a couple of drops of water makes this incredibly flavorful on it's own. Add a splash of lime and a bit of tonic and you have a rich grog that can't be beat. Such an exceptional value in my area at $25US for 750ml.
One might ask, why would you start a four-tasting afternoon with an overproof? And of course the answer might be, WHY NOT?
This self-sanitizing rum was tasted 10/17/21 at Laka Lono in the form of a SotoDax because I knew better than to blow my palate with the first rum. My notes indicate that in addition to the previously noted "self-sanitizing," I felt it had interesting earthy flavors.

Hard find this 151. When Bacardi quit making 151, I searched for others for Spanish Coffee. Cruzan quit making 151. This is great stuff excellent nose and flavor. You can tell there is Demerara in there.
Aroma - smoky molasses followed by fresh lemon peels and cinnamon.
Taste - charred molasses followed by pure cane sugar, fresh baked snickerdoodles, and finishes with a lemon tart / barrel spice flavor.
This is a great overproof rum! Very different from other black overproof rums in flavor. It has a magical charred molasses characteristic to it and a lemon tart pastry quality that I find extremely unique. For being 151 proof, it is remarkably easy to sip on with no harsh afterburn like some of the other overproof rums I've tried. If you are into making classic Tiki drinks and like to keep your bottle count to a minimum, then this should be your go to for the black blended overproof category. Lastly at a price of $24 to $32 dollars, procuring this won't break the bank. This rum definitely gets my seal of approval!

Rich notes such as toffee, brown sugar, molasses, raisins.
"Lovely treacly toffee, rich toffee apple and intense candy floss flavours."

Very good 8 out of 10
Having it with ice, it starts a bit strong, obviously, but then mellows out over time. It has rich flavors of brown sugar and butterscotch. Very good when watered down but exceptional when mixed.
