This was a very sweet rum (I've heard that a lot of makers add sugar back into the rum and since it is made from sugar, they don't have to declare it) but after 48 hours I noticed a lot of white floating pea sized things in my bottle.... not sure what to make of it. I've read it is everything from the sugars crystallizing to mold.

I was pleasantly suprised by this rum.

Low sweet level, good vanilla taste and caramel. I have the feeling they perfectly know how to deal with their alcohol level for this kind of rum.

Good mixer. Not quite a good sipper.

I like the Cruzan family of rums. I keep a 1.75 of this one for company because everyone seems to enjoy it in a mixer.

I like the Caribbean influences of this rum, as a mixer and over ice. I prefer it with tonic and lime, I am not into the cola thing. Once in a while I'll do a island style punch with sweet, sour and all important bitters which brings out the island essence. If you add just a touch of Black Strap (a few drops) it approaches an Anniversario's richness.

Excellent rum with coke or another mix, a bit harsh to drink straight or on the rocks

Cruzan Gold is my favorite all around rum, mainly for mixing. Smooth, flavorful, and nice aroma, without braking the bank. I have paid between $13 and $16 per 750 or liter, depending where I buy it. I make Mai Tais with Cruzan Gold and Coruba dark (see my review of Coruba). Not enough flavor, in my opinion, for sipping, as I like the darker rums for that, but not bad in a pinch, especially with an ice cube to mellow out the bite. Awesome with cola. It gets an 7 for being the best I've found so far in it's price range.

A good rum for mixing. Not alot of flavors upfront, but still good. Price wise, cheaper than Mount Gay or Appleton reserve so its a really good value. Great for parties and open bars.
