Angostura 1824 rum is a blend of rums aged for at least 12 years in oak barrels. The aged rums are blended, re-casked, and upon maturity hand-drawn for bottling.
This rum is named and crafted in honor of Dr. Johann Siegart's founding of Angostura house in the city of Angostura, Venezueala in 1824. Angostura 1824 rum production is now based in Trinidad.

I tried some on the rocks and it is just to sweet. It is probably fine in a fruity drink with an umbrella on a sunny beach.

It's great for coffee or dessert , but ths isn't really a rum.
This is pure college rum as I call it. No one will buy this to just sip on or have a friend over for a drink. You mix this with everything including frat party and then it will be in the right place. But doesnโt belong in my collection.

Reminds me of Hawaii. Its rare for me to use it back in Canada. I have the same bottle for about 10 years. That should tell you something.

Clear and only coconut on the nose. Sweet with no burn and strong artificial coconut flavour. A sweet liqueur but not a classic rum.
Good for cocktails, and that's about it. Not a fan

Yeah, I agree that Malibu gets no respect. Why anyone would want to drink this straight up is beyond me. I use it sparingly in tropical cocktails to add some coconut flavor. It is okay mixed with coke and lime too. I put a half-ounce in a mojito the other night and it was fantastic. If you are making rum based drinks for friends, you need a bottle of 'bu in the cabinet.
