Appleton Estate Rare Blend 12-Year

First try of anything Appleton, and not disappointed. Not as sweet as many rums I have tried, but very interesting. Quite unique.

Allrounder, nothing special, typical Jamaica rum with good burn and hints of fruits

Značka Appleton je pomerne známa, konkrétne tento kúsok je medzi tradičnými rumanmi dosť obľúbený, tak som zvedavý, čo ponúkne za rozumných 28€. Fľaša je štýlová v tvare hrušky, z ťažkého skla, farba je tmavá, takmer mahagónová. Vôňa silná a intenzívna, sú tam jasné jamajské tóny, teda zemitosť, drevo, koreniny a prezreté ovocie (slivky). Chuť je podobne intenzívna, nasládlosť akurátna, presne podľa môjho vkusu. Pritom drink je napriek 43% alkoholu dosť jemný, s nečakane dlhým záverom. Paradoxne pil som nedávno u kamaráta podobne označený Appleton (myslím, že Estate Extra 12Y) a ten chutil oveľa sladšie, moc mi nesadol. Naopak, čítal som aj recenzie na novú verziu v novej fľaši (Estate Rare Casks 12) a tá je často hodnotená ako ďalšie výrazné zlepšenie. Asi je v povahe značky prichádzať pravidelne s obmenami...prečo nie? Určite skúsim aj ten. Za mňa naplnil očakávanie, za danú cenu kvalitná Jamajka.

Very mild and sweet taste. Smell honey and for me one of the most delicious rums.

Traditional nice bottle. Mahogany in color. On palate i gives oak, dry fruits, cocoa beans, coffee. Quite dry overall, but gives some natural sweetness with nice warm alcohol taste. Taste lingers quite long time, good for sipping over big ice cube.

Nice shape to the bottle. Pineapple and grapefruit scent to a smokey rum. Lovely flavour in the mouth with a gentle burn in the throat. A lovely sipping rum that is easy to drink.

Tasted at Laka Lono on 10/9/18. So very good. Lost much of the J-junk, but I'm a fan. Sugary sweet. Very smooth and balanced. Warming, not burning.

Good while neat tasting.. Smooth and with oak, warms well. In cocktails banana sweetness takes you over

Smooth but with a bite. Nice Jamaican not to sweet.

For my taste, the drink is not bad, but harsh, a lot of alcohol and lacks sweetness and aroma.
