Tastes like gasoline and coughing medicine. Some off the absolutely worst ive ever had. I gave the rest to the zink.

I do like a spiced rum however am not that fond of the very sweet vanilla infused versions that are dominating the market today. I like what Bristol Spirits are doing as an independent bottler with their range of rums under the Bristol Classic Rum brand so was looking forward to this one.

Bottled at 42% (84 proof) it is a blended rum of 3 year white rum from Mauritius and 6 year old Caroni from Trinidad. There is very little info on what spices have been used to make this.

The color as the name is black with a dark red hue when held up to the light. The aroma coming of this is amazing. I'm not the best at identifying notes (still learning) but I can smell orange peel, christmas pudding and Dutch Liquorice. The taste is similar from the nose with. Long liquorice finish which leaves your mouth very dry.

A complete different spiced rum than I have ever experienced and I'm glad I did.

if you like your spiced rum of the sweet vanilla & sugar bomb variety then this is not the one for you. if you want to go on a different taste journey than give this is a try.

I like it!!

It seems like they put licorice in almost everything these days so why not in a rum? This is why. It just doesn't work. Buy some cough syrup insteds, it will probably taste better. A rare miss from Bristol Classic

ikke en god rom at drikke ren, derimod er den ganske udmærket i kamille te hvis man har halsbetændelse ;-)

This rum is unlike any I have ever tried. Smells and tastes of tobacco, licorice, clove, salt, lime, and molasses, though it's not at all sweet. Kind of reminds me of a liqueur.

This is one of the best spiced rums I've tried (though Kraken is my favorite as of this review). This could grow on me as well.

Lemon zest is definitely the dominating taste. Luckily an not too sweet rum. Its a great rum I think, although I can understand that, particularly this rum, is not to everybody's liking.

Had in my collection for almost a year now and still only had around a third of the bottle. Sorry but it's just odd, such a tangy licquorice aftertaste that lingers in the mouth for what seems like eternity. Certainly not one for the fainthearted. One of the only rums I feel truly let down by as it wasn't a cheap one. To me it seems more like a licquorice liqueur so if you enjoy that kind of thing then fill your boots. Hey, you could even have what's left in my bottle.

Spiced rums just are not my thing. I don't know what I could use this for. I wouldn't drink it straight, again, and I'm not ruining my cocktails with it.

En meget mærkelig rom - har en udefinerbar eftersmag af noget sødt

I was surprised to see a range of 2-8 ratings on this rum. I personally enjoyed it quite a lot. Good mixer for sure, and not too bad straight.
