Trinidad 1997. Very peaty/smokey smell to this rum. Although it is very smooth, I am not a fan of the peat taste/smell. It would be great for someone who likes scotch. Smokey taste that lingers for a bit with a hint of sweetness at the end.
Lots of unusual flavors here: cinnamon, leather, wood, and other earthly notes. Maybe too much, really, but still very good.
8.5 for my money. I love rums that have been aged in wine though, so that will influence my opinion.
Smooth with a light perfumy character to the finish.
The Plantation Trinidad 1997-2001-2003 is a molasses single Cask Rum that was dazzled from three vintagerums. They were allowed to store for about 10 years each before they got their finish together for 3 years in Muscat wine barrels. 450 bottles were bottled with 43.5% alcohol. The rum is rarely found.
The plantation is typical of a Trinidad rum, but has additional fruity and spicy aromas due to the storage in the Muscat barrel. In the nose, the rum takes some time. Spicy smoky influences with a certain residual sharpness are perceptible. With a slight sweetness, it is appealing and can be researched for a longer time. In the mouth it is direct. Sweet aromas of honey and chocolate are on the tongue. Smoky wood notes resonate and make the rum interesting. The sharpness comes through on the way to the finish. The finish is characterized by fruity sweet notes of banana and vanilla, which are captured by the wood. The smoke stays for a long time and makes the rum pleasant in the end.
The Plantation Single Cask is a very own rum which I liked to drink and which convinced me completely. It has corners and edges. Therefore, it is not light or elegant rum. Slightly rounder and a little full-bodied, it would become an absolute premium top rum. But I was amazed at how many times I chose the rum in the evening. It was always fun to explore him. Who ever finds a bottle should definitely strike even if it is not cheap. My bottle was the 124/450.
Smooth, fruity, pineapple, slight burnt sugar, heat on the edge of the tongue, did I mention pineapple
Sehr angenehm zu trinken. Plantation hat auch diesmal nicht enttäuscht.
Trinidad 2003
Color: old gold
Nose:
Very unspecific and not very intense smell of licorice and caramel.
Palate:
Smooth and sweet at first mouthfeel, then spicy. Tons of caramel and toffee with a little pepper coming up. Becomes better after a while and the sweetness is less dominating.
Finish:
Very sweet und sticky. Strong cold black tea with a lot of sugar.
A friend brought over this bottle because I told him years ago that I haven't tried a rum from Trinidad, or at least not a rum worth remembering. I tasted coffee, and sweet spiced caramel as this rum warmed my body from head to toe like a hot cup of tea on a cold night. This rum made me feel warm, and was not something I was expected.

Best of Plantation 7 out of 10
Those series of Plantation Trinidad was the best. Before they went multinational and excessive tastings for rich people and watering down their brand.
