Rum Nation Peruano 8-Year

Duften er sød. Karamel og en smule figen. Smag af røg og sødme, men også af alkohol, fad og peber. Rom Nation er generelt ikke noget for mig, da de er lidt kedelige, men dette er absolut den bedste jeg har smagt derfra. (11. december 2021 i 1423)

After having some poor rums I thought this one might pleasantly surprise. It is incredibly smooth, so much so that it may lack character. Good but not amazing.

In der Nase sehr zurückhaltend und unscheinbar. Etwas Zitruszesten auf Vanille Eis mit einem Spritzer Karamell darüber.
Am Gaumen etwas bitter und süss zugleich. Läuft nicht so rund über die Zunge, Karamell, etwas Schokolade und einige bittere Medizinkräuter stolpern vor sich hin.
Im Abgang noch ein wenig Karamell aber das wars....
Ein simpler, anspruchsloser Rum für einfache Tage. Für Einsteiger und Aussteiger.

Light amber in the glass.
In the nose very restrained and unimpressive. Some citrus zest on vanilla ice cream with a splash of caramel on top.
On the palate a bit bitter and sweet at the same time. Doesn't run so smoothly over the tongue, caramel, some chocolate and some bitter medicinal herbs stumble along.
In the finish still a little caramel but that was it....
A simple, unpretentious rum for easy days. For beginners and quitters.

Had just a sample of this molasses based column distilled 8yo Latino Solera rum bottled by Rum Nation.
The nose has a pleasant fresh sweetness with hints of toffee and chocolate.
In mouth and palate it’s still pleasant and fresh but also a little bit smoky, besides that I recognize dried fruits and spices and some oak.
The tastes during the medium long finish goes on in the same way as at the palate plus some hints of tea just in the end.
Overall I think it’s much better than expected. It’s rich, smooth and intense at the same time.

Nose: Almost imperceptible but I get a hint of toffee and vanilla.

Finish: Short with fading notes of the toffee, vanilla, and coffee.

This is an easy rum to like because it’s so easy drinking. It just lacks the body and flavor staying power to be anything really interesting. Like so many Spanish style rums it dissipates quickly and despte the long aging has a very light character.
