Old Monk XXX 7-Year

This rum is very spicy with a liquorice smell, aftertaste and a hint of vanilla. Due to its spiciness this is a rum whisk(e)y lovers would like to drink.

Though the bottle does not say it is spiced, it is generally thought to be. Intense molasses, caramel and wood make this a good and very interesting dark rum, great for mixing but also a decent sipper. though the 12 yr old Gold reserve is a pretty good step up.

Very strongly flavoured so I agree with others that it is likely spiced. Still, it is smooth enough to sip and has a really rich butterscotch flavour. I loved mixing it with egg nog at Xmas. One final thing that's great is it's crazily cheap, got it for $11!

Love this stuff, can't find it locally anymore.

This old monk indian rum has a strong coffee and herbal taste. I don't like it but fans of british rums will probably like this one more than me.

I really did not like this one it had a weird after taste that i cant describe.

I may be partial as this reminds me of simpler times. Strong vanilla flavor and probably the best value for money. Not recommended for sipping, and goes best with Coke. Costs around $5 in India.

Medium-bodied, heavy over dramatized "rum" flavor. Easy drinking

Hard to explain this rum. Almost a spiced vanilla and coffee type flavour but not quite. I love it others hate it.

Was really looking forward to this one, but was let down pretty quickly. First impression on the nose right away was strong vanilla and melted plastic. The first tastes (straight up) reinforce the nose. I had to do a double take and make sure I wasn't just drinking vanilla extract. They seem pretty close. I'm going to have to go fairly low on my impression of this right now, but I've got plenty of time to reevaluate as I've got a whole bottle. It may be something that needs to be acquired over time.
