This bottle is like barbell, but it is rum which have a nice character, I like it because taste is good balanced.
Thats it. In a previous career I was a cabinetmaker and after a day of cutting oak you go home with the taste in your mouth. I took my first sip and that taste of cabinet came back to me after 20 years away from that business. Oak. Unmistakable.
I always enjoy the search for subtle flavor in every great rum, this one's subtle flavor is....oak. Can't taste any complexities, just wood.
All in all, a smooth rum, very plain, but drinkable.
It is a cheaper version of Relicario. I have already reviewed the higher Supremo version. So how does it compare to its more expensive version?
It is again 40% ABV solera from the Dominican Republic, but aged 5-10 years in new American oak barrels and then finished in bourbon barrels. The aging is tropical. It therefore consists of younger rums than Supremo.
Bottle: Again very nice thick glass bottle, square, closed with a wooden screw cap. It comes in a paper carton.
Colour: Amber
Nose: It is slightly sweet. In addition to caramel and vanilla, there are also raisins, coconut and almonds. Compared to Supremo, the scent is a little sharper.
Taste: It is also sharper than Supremo. However, the flavour profile is very similar. At the beginning it burns quite a lot on the palate, then the taste mellows out. For a 40% ABV rum, unusually so. The rum needs to be left to stand for at least 10 - 15 minutes. The taste is typical of Spanish style rums and is only slightly sweet. You can detect vanilla, raisins, caramel, honey, nuts and even some wood notes.
Finish: Medium.
Conclusion: The taste of the Superior version is very similar to the Supremo one. The Supremo is a little more subtle, but again considerably more expensive. For this reason I rate both equally. If I had to choose, I'd probably go for the cheaper Superior.

Ein preiswerter abnehmbarer Rum. Gerne mit Cola oder O-Saft, aber auch pur, dann sollte er kalt sein, da er mir sonst zu sehr brennt.
It's definitely not a man's drink. But women will admire him. This rum is spicy and sweet. The smell and taste are caramel and perfume. Very soft. So if you have a holiday where the main guests are women, this drink will become a favorite of the party. Chocolate cake and a bottle of this rum are a perfect match. It seemed to me that I was drinking French perfume.
Tasted this at a friend’s house. Not sure about the price. So that makes it hard for me to say if it’s great value for money.
Awesome bottle and also very nice paper box but unfortunately here the list of pros ends. Okay, one more it's very good in cocktails. That's it.

Caramel and buttery notes.
"Starts sweetly with notes of caramel and toffee, then get bitterness – tobacco and some spicy white pepper."

One of the best Gld rums I have ever tasted 6 out of 10
Being a gold rum it is thin with little or no finish. But is is certainly better than most. Nose of bananna, almond, vanilla and a hint of oak. It has bite but is very smooth for a rum this young. balanced without complexity. Drinkable by itself. Would make an absolutely top notch mixer.
Well done!
