Enjoyed a bottle of Exquisito 1995 in Santo Domingo. Nice bottle design. Numbered bottle. Very nice velvet pouch. Dark brown color. Rather sweet to the nose. Quite a kick to the palate which is quickly subdued due to large amount of sugar. Semi long afterburn. I rated the more expensive 1985 an 8 since it was much stronger in both flavor, sweetness and burn. The 1995 deserves a 9.

40% solera rum from the Dominican Republic from the famous Oliver & Oliver distillery. It is a blend of minimum 12 years old rums aged since 1995 in bourbon barrels and then single malt whisky barrels. It is the last edition so far. The 1985 and 1990 editions were released before that.
Bottle: Beautifully flattened and presented in a blue velvet bag. This presentation looks quite luxurious.
Colour: Copper.
Nose: It's sweet and has vanilla, caramel, ripe bananas, cocoa and oak tones.
Mouth: Sweet, dense and smooth. The taste shows caramel, honey, tropical fruits, milk chocolate, nuts and slightly oak. The rum is not over-sweetened, however, and turns into a slight bitterness (woodiness) at the end.
Finish: Medium-long.
This is a classic Oliver with a similar taste to Ophyum, for example. Although it is sweeter, there are pleasant fruity flavours and woodier notes.
Overall rating: 8/10

Not as bitter as 1985 version, sweet with vanilla, spices and oak in the background.

Velmi příjemné, hladké, sladké, v chuti kandovane ovoce. Celkově v rámci Oliver soler pro mě rozhodně to lepší.

Dominuje sladkost a je velmi mírná. Určité koření a trochu pomeranče a vanilky z něj činí silného zástupce svého řemesla. Cena je také velmi dobrá

One class better than Presidente 9 out of 10

I really like this one and I am not a huge fan of Dominican rums. But Exquisito is very complex, extremelly well balanced rum with both nose and taste being great.
Smell: Sweetness, chocolate, a bit of wood. Very nice.
Taste: Chocolate, wood, very complex and long tasting, a hint of vanilla.
It costs same money as 23yo Presidente and is one class above it. Definitely recomandable to anyone.
