My journey has mainly been on the more expensive rums so take my comments with a grain of salt. First, for the price point with no sugar added it is a fine rum. Tasted this alongside Appleton 12 rare cask. Doorly’s is a fine rum. But for me a lot of oak. The Appleton was more well rounded also a bit more expensive. Happy sailing on your rum journey.
I had a little bit high expectations when I ordered a bottle of this rum (the 43 abv, because it's supposed to be better than the 40 abv.). Well, it tastes very similar to the Jack Daniels Single barrel, since they have both been aged in a single (charred?) american white oak barrel. It's not for everybody and many beginners won't like it. The rum is heavy, dark, a little smoked, definitely can use an ice cube or two, it goes well with a cigar or similar. It is not a bad rum, but for that price I would go with something more complex and light on the palate
This rum is aged for 12 actual years in American small white oak barrels and has no sugar added. At the sale price of only $24, this rum sounds too good to be true. Well, the old saying of spending too long in the wood applies here. Too much oak almost ruins this rum for me. I can only rate it as a 6 at best. I find it nasty even with water. I will try their 8 year whenever I find it, but I won't go back all the way to Nevada to get it.
Would love to see this one stepped up in proof but as is it isnt special to me. I can see where others would rate it higher. Even 86 proof would be world's different I think.
Not bad at all and relatively smooth but lacks a certain depth...I couldn't discern any stand out flavour either but that could be me...
Geschmack zu oberflächlich, Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmt nicht wirklich
I am a fan of Foursquare and Richard Seale. That being said this rum falls short of R.L Seale 10 year for me. It is a bit darker in color than the R.L. Aroma very similar but the Doorly's just seems a bit to dry compared to the R.L. and has a more prevalent whisky taste. Both are 43% ABV but the Doorly's just seems a little less smooth than the R.L Seales.
This is a decent rum for the price. Hoped for a little more
Jde cítit víno ze sudů po portském a malý náznak vůně ovoce. Vůně není intenzivní.
Chuť je nevýrazná.
Familiar notes of vanilla and light toffee/caramel.
"An initial hit of sweetness, brown sugar and a little spicy pepper is overtaken by dry oaked flavour and a nice spiced heat. The finish is very smooth and long lasting."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

On nose, I feel honey, banana and caramel notes. Doesn't burn, on smooth side, slightly sweet. Having it neat, no rocks needed. Comparing to other Foursquare similarly priced rums I prefer RL Seale 10 year.
