I saw this hit the shelves shortly after I saw the Kraken hit stores. Since I was already in love with Kraken I figured I'd like this one. It was ok at best. Not terrible but not great.
Nothing special but oke to drink with cola. For straight up this isn't my rum.
Captain Morgan is just a strong taste of molasses and strong bitter finish.
Táto kombinácia mi skutočne nesedela. Neviem ale prerážanie korenia oproti chuti rumu bola absolútne zlá
Clearly not the best of the best but a solid choice for mixed drinks, Has a strong vanilla flavour more so than a true spiced rum.
Great vanilla flavour. Love it! For now the best Morgan I ever had...but...
Straight up - great - 9/10
With cola - soooo sweet - 3/10
Average - 6/10
Bought this hoping for a more smokey or oakey flavor since it's double charred. It's much sweeter than I had anticipated but quite good. Not too harsh for the high abv but don't think I'd sip it on the rocks. Good mixer when you want to add some sweetness. Bottle is awesome.
This is on the sweet side, better than the original due to the more complex deeper flavor but it still has a slight fuel-like finish. I also tried this with root beer against the original and I prefer the dark. Agree with others that Kraken is a better choice for a black spiced rum.
Docela pitelný a zajímavý, s hezkým vtipem na vnitřní straně etikety.
"vanilla flavour is there but is mixed with a little Black Cherry and caramel"

"rich clove spice and premium cassia bark"

There is a little hint of clove and nutmeg present on the nose as well but predominantly it is sweet vanilla. .
"This is a very sweet drink. The rum burns a little on exit but after a few sips the burn subsides. There is a little hint of oaked ageing in the aftertaste."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Nosing is rather subdued for its strength under the additives but does have a slight nostril burn to it. The nosing is that of chocolate, molasses, vanilla. Burn in the back of the throat and tongue. Astringency Then turns into a sugar bomb in its finish with vanilla and chocolate notes. Nothing to sip on lacking oak or smoke flavors form any "double charring". Unable to have the desire to sip more I mixed with cola which I rarely do. The cola helps to mostly reduce the burn and astringency which it often does and carried the vanilla and chocolate notes.
