Rum Artesanal 2000 Jamaica Long Pond 22-Year

This bottling of Rum Artesanal comes from the Long Pond Distillerie Jamaica and was produced in 2000 using the Pot Style process. The rum was allowed to mature continentally in Ex bourbon barrels for 22 years and was bottled in March 2023 with a cask strength of 55.8% alcohol without filtration and additives as a single cask with 240 bottles.

The rum has a nice classic LP nose. The rum needs a few minutes to shake off the alcohol. Then comes a nice spice with vanilla and caramel, pastry, roasted aromas, nut, tropical fruits and esters. The rum has a nice mix of funk and spice. On the palate, the barrel influence is high. The rum brings a lot of spice with burnt brown sugar, vanilla and roasted aromas. The wood is very present. Also candied overripe fruit. The finish starts with bitter substances and tannins. The finish is dry and woody with esters and roasted aromas. The rum becomes nice and creamy and astringent at the end.

A very nice solid LP with a lot of wood influence. The storage has influenced the rum very nicely. I don't think it's too strong, but it might be too much for some. I like the very dry finish. In the end, the rum somehow lacks that certain something. 22Years in a barrel is an announcement and if you are looking for a funky Jamaica rum with a lot of wood influence, this is definitely the right place for you.

Der Rum hat eine schöne klassische LP Nase. Der Rum benötigt ein paar Minuten um den Alkohol ab zu schütteln. Dann kommt eine schöne Würze mit Vanille und Karamel, Gebäck, Röstaromen, Nuss, tropische Früchte und Ester. Der Rum hat eine schöne Mischung aus Funk und Würze. Am Gaumen ist der Fasseinfluss hoch. Der Rum bringt viel Würze mit gebrannten braunen Zucker, Vanille und Röstaromen. Das Holz ist ist sehr präsent. Dazu kandierte überreife Frucht. Zum Abgang kommen mejr Bitterstoffe und Tannine. Der Abgang ist trocken und holzig mit Ester und Röstaromen. Der Rum wird zum Ende schön cremig und adstringend.

Ein sehr schöner solider LP mit viel Holzeinfluss. Die Lagerung hat den Rum sehr schön beeinflusst. Ich finde es nicht zu stark könnte aber einigen schon zu viel sein. Ich mag den sehr trockenen Abgang. Am Ende fehlt dem Rum irgendwie das gewisse Etwas. 22Jahre im Fass ist eine Ansage und wer einen funky Jamaica Rum mit viel Holzeinfluss sucht ist hier auf jeden Fall richtig.
