Awesome Caroni with a great balance of fruit, wood and tar

This Bristol Classic bottling is a Caroni from Trinidad, which was made in 1997 in column style and was bottled in 2017 after 20 years of tropical and continental aging at a cask strength of 61.5% alcohol. The single cask bears the abbreviation HTR, which stands for Heavy Trinidad Rum. The rum is bottled without additives.
In the nose the rum is intense and beautifully dirty. Tar, gum, smoke and toasty flavors combined with dried fruit, a nice spiciness with some vanilla, tabal and candied. Just awesome. On the palate, the rum remains dirty and the alcohol is very well integrated, making the rum warm and offering a full body. I get dried fruit with a nice candied sweetness, tar, ashtray, smoke and roasted flavors. Also more wood and spice. The rum is intense and towards the finish it becomes drier with more wood, tar, toasted aromas, old dried fruit and more dirt. He becomes more medical. I could smell the glass for hours. This tar, ashtray smell lingers for a very long time.
I'm a big Bristol Caroni fan. I feel completely at home here. Are not as woody and have less cask influence than the Velier tropical bottlings. Real good stuff. Simply legendary and unique. Fortunately a few bottles in stock.

Der Single Cask trägt das Kürzel HTR, was für Heavy Trinidad Rum steht. Der Rum kommt ohne Zusatzstoffe in die Flasche.
In der Nase ist der Rum intensiv und schön dreckig. Teer, Gummi, Rauch und Röstaromen kombiniert mit getrockneter Frucht, einer schönen Würze mit etwas Vanille, Tabal und kandiertem. Einfach nur geil. Am Gaumen bleibt der Rum dreckig und der Alkohol ist sehr gut eingebunden und macht den Rum warm und bietet einen vollen Körper. Ich bekomme getrocknete Frucht mit einer schönen kandierten Süße, Teer, Aschenbecher, Rauch und Röstaromen. Auch mehr Holz und Würze. Der Rum ist intensiv und zum Abgang wird er trockener mit mehr Holz, Teer, Röstaromen, alter getrockneter Frucht und mehr Dreck. Dabei wird er medizinischer. Am Glas könnte ich stundenlang riechen. Dieser Teer, Aschenbecher Geruch bleibt sehr lange bestehen.
Ich bin ein großer Fan der Bristol Caronies. Hier fühle ich mich voll zuhause. Sind nicht so holzig und haben weniger Fasseinfluss als die tropischen Abfüllungen von Velier. Richtig guter Stoff. Einfach legendär und einmalig. Zum Glück ein paar Flaschen auf Vorrat.
