National Rums of Jamaica 2010 Jamaica Long Pond Cambridge STCE 12-Year

This Velier bottling is from the "National Rums of Jamaica" series and was made in 2010 in the Long Pond Distillery in the pot style of the long-closed Cambride Distillery. The rum bears the mark STCE and is therefore a high ester rum. Hence the title Continental Flavored. The rum was bottled after 12 years of tropical aging at a cask strength of 57% ABV with no additives or filtration. It is limited to 4900 bottles.

The rum has a lot of esters for the nose and should be allowed to breathe for 15-30 minutes. I find typical ester notes like fermented tropical fruit, solvent and varnish. In addition, nice roasted aromas, vanilla, nuts and burnt sugar. A nice thick funky nose that is powerfully intense. On the palate, the rum appears light and fresh at first. Almost flowery. But then it quickly becomes more powerful and full-bodied. Overripe fruit, esters, a nice nutty spiciness with roasted aromas and a good portion of wood. It's all creamy and dry. The finish then becomes woodier with leather and bitterness, solvents and a slight astringency.

What can I say. A great rum that has everything I expect from a high ester Jamaican. The tropical maturation is on point and the barrel influence is super successful. The rum doesn't quite have the complexity and depth of the TECA from 2007. Still, it' hits my taste and it's really fun.

Diese Velier Abfüllung ist aus der Serie "National Rums of Jamaica" und wurde 2010 in der Long Pond Distillerie im Pot Style der seit langem geschlossenen Cambride Distillerie hergestellt. Der Rum trägt ds Mark STCE und ist daher ein High Ester Rum. Daher auch der Titel Continental Flavoured. Der Rum wurde nach 12 Jahren tropischer Lagerung mit einer Fassstärke von 57% Alkohol ohne Zusatzstoffe oder Filtration abgefüllt. Er ist auf 4900 Flaschen limitiert.

Der Rum hat viel Ester für die Nase und sollte 15-30min atmen dürfen. Ich finde typische Ester Noten wie vergorene tropische Früchte, Lösungsmittel und Lack. Daneben schöne Röstaromen, Vanille, Nuss und gebrannter Zucker. Eine schöne dicke funky Nase die kräftig intensiv ist. Am Gaume wirkt der Rum im ersten Moment leicht und frisch. Fast blumig. Dann wird er aber schnell immer kräftiger und vollmundiger. Überreife Frucht, Ester, eine schöne nussige Würze mit Röstaromen und eine guten Portion Holz. Das ganze ist cremig und trocken. Der Abgang wird dann holziger mit Leder und Bitterstoffen, Lösungsmittel und einer leichten Adstringenz.

Was soll ich sagen. Ein toller Rum, der alles mitbringt was ich von einem high Ester Jamaicaner erwarte. Die tropische Reifung ist on point und der Fasseinfluss super gelungen. Der Rum hat nicht ganz die Komplexität und Tiefe wie der TECA von 2007. Trotzdem genau nach meinem Geschmack und macht richtig Spaß.

den smager virkelig godt, men den er temmelig høj på estere så den kræver at man er lidt til det.

Jedná se o blend 15 sudů z palírny Long Pond, který zrál 12 let v tropech.
Rum byl lahvovaný s obsahem esterů 853 g/hlpa (STCE)
Vyrobeno bylo 4900 lahví.

Aroma: Výrazná a pronikavá vůně tropického ovoce (přezrálé až nahnilé banány, mango), ředidlo oproti 2005 jen lehce. Na pozadí se objevuje i guma. Nádherná vůně.
Chuť: Lehce kořenitá, mocně ovocná, benzínová. Hutná a plná.
Dozvuk: Hořká dřevitost mísící se s kyselou ovocností. Velmi dlouhý.
Sladkost: 0/3
Ochutnán vzorek, celá lahev
Platí vše, co jsem napsal u 2005 - tedy že jde o naprosto parádní vysokoesterovou Jamajku. V souboji s ročníkem 2005 tato verze o kousek vyhrála díky neskutečné ovocnosti.

Very good taste with a long soft aftertaste. This is one of my favorites!

Další ze vzorků z české rumové skupiny Rum Friendly Club.
Po nalití do sklenice se v okolí sklenice line ovocná vůně, ale u čichnutí ke sklenici cítím technickou vůni ředidla a nic jiného.
Po ochutnání při prvním malém doušku cítím nejprve něco technického, následuje ovoce, které přechází do mentolu.
Vše krásně jemné tvořící nádherný celek.
Není to úplně rum pro mne, ale láhev na doma možná pořídím.
