In the bottle gifted to me by Buck for my birthday. Tasted on 11-25-23. An appropriate rum for my 500th rating. Pours a very dark reddish amber. The aroma fills the room. I get a malty grain aroma with rich notes of toasted caramel and a touch of funk. Up front tartness that quickly melts into citrus tangerines, cloves, leather and oakiness. Spicy finish with a long woody taste lingering. Tannic and astringent. Thinner palate than the previous blue label 21 year and quite different.
Rum really aging in barrels for 21 years, not a solera. In taste you filling all this years: rum has heavy body, dry, wood, leather and tobacco. Will be good choice for whiskey lovers.
This rum would be my choice out of various El Dorado rums I tried. Smooth, coffee notes.
Chuť: Mix opáleného dřeva, ovoce a velmi hořké čokolády.
Dozvuk: Štavnatě ovocný mísící se se zemitostí, dřevem a slaným karamelem.
Sladkost: 0/3

Novější verze (stejně jako 15yo) je neskutečně komplexní dobrota. Oba jsou si velmi podobné a bodově je hodnotím stejně, ale z hlediska poměru cena/výkon vyhrává 15yo, která se prodává za poloviční cenu.
Out of the bottle this rum is delicious. A hint of oak and caramel on the tongue. It is well balanced and makes for a great sipper. Our high taxes in Alberta put this rum at $91.00 Canadian.

Better than the old one ! 9 out of 10
Tasted the new less sweetened El Dorado 21yo after a better dinner at a restaurant downtown Stockholm.
It’s still very tasteful, but drier which suits me better. So they’ve made a good job at DDL to make it such good without much of the sugar.
