Complex drink; spice on the entry along with oak and tons of brown sugar also hints of fig and dates but not overly sweet.
The finish is dry and fruity.
Great rum but for almost $400 bones i don't think it is quite worth that.
Expensive as this is, I only tasted a sample. So didn't have the option for 2nd or 3rd test.
Nose: Caramel, Vanilla, Burnt Sugar, and spices.. There are so many others you wouldn't believe it.. It just changes and varies all the time.
In the glass: Its extremely 'caramelly', beautiful color and fat body.
Taste: Sweet opening that gracefully leads you into, notes of caramel, port?, vanilla, raisins and a long long long aftertaste of dried fruits and maybe even some tobacco? Slight aftertaste of oak and some dryness to round it of.
A very nice experience, and overall very very easy drinkable, but with many different aspects. Not a rum that does well for sample-tasting. I will look forward to my next meeting with this where im sure I will find new impressions. Again and again and again..
The price tag makes me remove 1 rating.
Opening this bottle was an experience.
Nose: lots of fruit and spices - keep smelling and new things appear.
In the glass: beautiful brown deep color and looks thick.
Taste: Vanilla, brown sugar, caramel, raisins and more. Very long aftertaste.
My rating is based on the experience. It would have been lower if I had to take the price into considerations.
Very mature, caramelised brown sugar.
Incredibly smooth.
Ginger taste and lots of depth but not better than the 21 yr old in my book so can't justify the cost.
The bottle is really cool and if you need a centrepiece to your shelf then in might be easier to justify.
As close to cognac as a rum can come. Worth the money if you can find it. Caramel notes with fruity undertones.
Sip straight up, it would be a sin to mix this rum.
Nice caramel-golden colour in the glass.
Nose: Raising and fruit, a hint of vainilla
Flavour: Very smooth and balanced but not timid, long pleasant aftertaste. As it smells, hints of raising and fruit, vanilla and tobacco, maybe even a little molasses...
It is very nice, I got a bottle from my lovely wife as a gift....must have done something right!
A beautiful piece in your collection. Where are the other two... ;-)
Honestly flavours cannot comprehend how good of a rum this is ... El Dorado stands for liquid gold and this is the holy grail ... I would own a 1000 bottles if I could
' elusive, rich, smooth and mellow with viscous mouth-feel'

Expensive, golden spirit. The nose is teaming with liquorice, molasse, cloves, nutmeg, vanilla and oaky barrel notes. The fat demerara palette is wonderfull. It offers enormous complexity and unrivaled smoothness. I find notes of sweet burnt banana, dates, toffee, tobaco and oak. As with some other primium rums, I have a slightly hard time isolating all the notes. It's one of those rums, that possess great complexity, but is still extremely drinkable. The aftertaste goes on forever, and actually builds up over a few minuts, with lovely warm, sweet, tingling baking spices, but also added sugar. There's no doubt that it's tasty, but also no doubt the the rum is overpriced. Equally great expiriences can be had for less money, and less or no added sugar would be very welcome here. But if you are into rum big time, you should still try this once.
