Bacardi Rye Cask Finish 8-Year

If I was going to introduce a Bourbon drinker to Rum, this is the one! The rye shines through on this one and it is spicy deliciousness. The 90 proof is perfectly appropriate. This and the Sevillan orange cask are my favorite Bacardi offerings.

Tasted at the Laka Lono Rum Club tasting on 9-27-23. Pours amber. Mild aroma for a 90 proof. Brown sugar and coriander. Treacle and horehound candy flavors tempered with the rye pepper burn. Delicious.

I'm not a Bacardi fan, but this is a really well done rum. You will need to have an adventurous spirit tho. I would put it in the "rums with very unique flavors" category. The rye is VERY present and is what makes it shine in my opinion.

Pleasant mouth and throat feel with slight burn during a long finish. Carmel flavor on the front, then dominated by the rye on back side. Sweetness goes unnoticed with the 90 proof, and pairs well with the strong flavors. Not a complex rum, but it does it's job (focusing in on rye flavors) extremely well.

Not a Bacardi fan in general but wow. This special edition rye cask finish rum brings the best of both worlds out in this rum. A smooth mildly sweet rum with a gingerbread and brown sugar taste. A great sipping rum for all

Appearance: light amber
Aroma: vanilla, sweet, caramel
Flavor: I'm tasting root and fall vegetables like carrots and cabbage; clay and dust; peat. This is a rum where the aroma and flavor do not seem to match, which is intriguing to me.

Does not feel like 45°, with little alcohol burn at aftertaste. Interesting, rich enough taste.

So close but so far away. The aroma is full of autumnal spices and dark fruit with nice oak. The taste is harsh, quick, and lacks depth. I wish they used 10 year.

If you’re going to do rye go all the way like ron colon rumrye 50/50, this is sippable and smooth but felt like they didnt commit fully to the rye flavor

While this one is definitely a step up from their sherry cask strength, it’s still doesn’t warrant any special.
