S.B.S. 2019 Jamaica Worthy Park WPE Virgin Oak Cask 1-Year

This bottling of S.B.S comes from Jamaica from the Worthy Park Distillery. The pot-style rum carries the WPE mark, which states that the rum has the highest ester content at Worthy Park. The rum was allowed to store in a fresh oak barrel for a year. The rum was bottled at cask strength of 55% alcohol and was bottled as a single cask without filtration or additives. There are 211 bottles.

The nose immediately reveals what's going on here. The rum is a merciless ester bomb. The rum can stand in the glass for 30 minutes. Then comes a lot of esters in the form of solvents, varnish and fermented tropical fruits. In addition, a subtle candied sweet note. I also notice a slight citrus note. The whole thing is intense, funky and just crazy. On the palate the rum is more balanced than expected. The slight dilution makes the rum more accessible. First a direct sweetness. Candied fruit and vanilla. Then again lots of ester and toasted wood. It's all powerful and intense. There is more wood at the end. The rum becomes somewhat bitter and metallic. Ester notes remain intense and settle in the mouth.

I was very impressed by this WPE and one year in Virgin Oak expanded the rum well. This gave him a little more body. This is particularly noticeable in comparison to the WPE White. An edgy ester bomb for connoisseurs and those who like it. Otherwise hands off. For experienced rum drinkers. Top.

Diese Abfüllung von S.B.S kommt von Jamaica aus der Worthy Park Distillery. Der im Pot Style hergestellte Rum trägt das Mark WPE, welches aussagt, dass der Rum den höchsten Ester Gehalt bei Worthy Park hat. Der Rum durfte ein Jahr in einem frischen Eichenfass lagern. Abgefüllt wurde der Rum in Fassstärke von 55% Alkohol und wurde als Single Cask ohne Filtration oder Zusatzstoffe abgefüllt. Es gibt 211 Flaschen.

Die Nase verrät sofort was hier los ist. Der Rum ist eine gnadenlose Ester Bombe. Der Rum kann ruhig 30min stehen im Glas. Dann kommt viel Ester in Form von Lösungsmittel, Lack und vergorenen tropischen Früchten. Dazu eine dezente kandierte süße Note. Ich nehme auch eine leichte Zitrusnote war. Das ganze ist intensiv, funky und einfach crazy. Am Gaumen ist der Rum ausgewogener als erwartet. Die leichte Verdünnung macht den Rum zugänglicher. Als erstes eine direkte Süße. Kandierte Frucht und Vanille. Dann wieder viel Ester und getoastetem Holz. Das ganze ist kräftig und intensiv. Zum Abgang kommt mehr Holz. Der Rum wird etwas bitter und metallisch. Ester Noten bleiben intensiv und setzen sich im Mund fest.

Dieser WPE hat mich sehr überzeugt und ds eine Jahr im Virgin Oak hat den Rum gut erweitert. Dadurch hat er etwas mehr Körper bekommen. Das ist besonders im Vergleich zu dem WPE White erkennbar. Eine kantige Ester Bombe für Kenner und die die es mögen. Ansonsten finger weg. Für erfahrende Rum Trinker. Top.
