The amber colored Papillon Brun is distilled at the Esperance distillery in their creole column whereafter it’s aged in new American oak barrels and former bourbon casks for 6 months before bottled.
The nose is aromatic, fruity and spicy.
On the palate and during the medium long finish I recognize vanilla, green apple, caramel, cinnamon and spices together with some sweetness from the sugar cane and oak from the aging process.
Overall a rum with a pleasant sweetness and a beautiful roundness despite the short aging. Actually with a remarkable balance.
