This Rum Artesanal bottling is a BMMG, which was made in 2000 in pot style. BMMG stands for Barbados Main Mount Gay. The rum was allowed to be stored in American oak barrels for 6 years and then another 16 years in continental ones. In 2022, the rum was bottled as a single cask in 304 bottles with a cask strength of 56.5% alcohol, without sugar, coloring or filtration.
The rum has a nice strong, intense but also balanced nose. I get caramel, orange, dried fruit. In addition baking spices with vanilla and wood. Plus roasted flavors and peanut butter. The whole thing feels creamy and delicious. On the palate the rum is strong again and has a very creamy texture. I get caramel and also orange again. However, the rum is rather spicy with aniseed and a clear influence of wood. To the finish, the anise combines with a little mint. It becomes woodier with bitter notes and toasted aromas. The rum becomes astringent and I detect some ester.
A very good rum, which falls a bit short of expectations, because I'm missing the special moment here. For example the Last Ward or the BMMG from the Rum Club, which scores with its beautiful smoke aromas. Despite everything, a delicious rum where I particularly like the nose of. The palate is a bit more atypical and is reminiscent of a rum from Guyana due to the spice and herbs.

Der Rum durfte 6 Jahre in amerikanischen Eichenfässern tropisch lagern und dann noch einmal 16 Jahre kontinental. 2022 wurde der Rum mit einer Fassstärke von 56,5% Alkohol als Single Cask in 304 Flaschen, ohne Zucker, Farbstoff oder Filtration, abgefüllt.
Der Rum hat direkt eine schön kräftige, intensive aber auch ausgewogene Nase. Ich bekomme Karamel, Orange, getrocknete Früchte. Dazu Backgewürze mit Vanille und Holz. Dazu Röstaromen und Erdnussbutter. Das ganze wirkt cremig und lecker. Am Gaumen ist der Rum wieder direkt kräftig und hat eine sehr cremige Textur. Ich bekomme Karamel und auch wieder Orange. Der Rum ist aber eher würzig mit Anis und Holzeinfluss. Zum Abgang verbindet sich der Anis mit etwas Minze. Es wird holziger mit Bitternoten und Röstaromen. Der Rum wird astringend und ich nehme etwas Ester wahr.
Ein sehr guter Rum, welcher aber etwas hinter den Erwartungen bleibt, da mir hier ein wenig der besondere Moment fehlt, wie z.B. bei einem Last Ward oder dem BMMG vom Rumclub, welcher durch seine schönen Raucharomen punktet. Trotz allem ein leckerer Rum, bei dem mir vor allem die Nase sehr gefällt. Der Gaumen ist etwas untypischer und erinnert auf Grund der Würze und Kräuter etwas an eine Rum aus Guyana.
