This is one of my favorites. It is fantastic straight or over pepsi with great taste.
Really good taste and color, nice smooth end and great price
7/10
The brand Doorly’s was founded in 1908 by Martin Doorly & Company, but is since 1992 owned and some years later produced by Foursquare and Mr. Richard Seale.
The 12yo at 40% is a rather new bottling in Europe, and the 43% version is much more common.
It’s a single blended rum, a combination of column and pot still, of which 90% is aged in former Kentucky bourbon casks and 10% in former Madeira casks whereafter it’s blended and aged for some additional time before bottled.
The aromas is fruity and spicy with hints of vanilla, caramel and coconut.
In mouth and at palate is complex, round, spicy and sweet with tastes of banana, caramel, oak, tropical and dried fruits.
The medium long finish is round and tastes more or less as at the palate.
Overall a round and good everyday rum, but it doesn’t really reach the level of the 43% version.
Picture: My opened bottle with a poured glass together with the 5 & 8yo Doorly’s.
I like the stocky shape clear glass bottle with dark golden rum.f Full of flavours in the mouth and a little fire in the throat.
Really easy to sip on all night without thinking. No real defining characteristics, buttery mouth, medium slightly spicy finish. Feels like it might be a great first ‘real’ rum for folks who live Capt. Morgan - they’ll say “it’s so smooth”.
As the bartender just told me “sometimes it’s nice not to have to think”
this is a fine rum and the price is right (right here that is).
Easy sipping and not too sweet or spicy.
An everyday drink.
This rum cost 1250czk (50usd) and for that money i think you can buy much better bottles. nothing special..
This is a Foursquare distillery bulk rum bottled at 40%. Basically I would call it a watered down ECS. It has similar notes but lacks the complexity and depth of its big brothers. I think for the mid $20 price it’s an ok rum but does not compare to a Eldorado 12, ESC, or Real McCoy 12 year. 6.5-7
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

In the bottle from Total Wine. This is the 80 proof version. Pours dark gold. First aroma whiff was acetone, but as it breathes, I get more musty earthiness. Medium palate. Mild roasted flavor with a balanced sugar sweetness. Maple sugar finish. Quite good.
