Tasted in the nipper bottle from Total Wine on 8-29-23. Auburn brown in color, Slight funk with a bit of burned rubber to the aroma. Flavor is surprisingly adequate for a 99 cent rum. Not very sweet at all yet some roasted caramel emerges from the mild band aid notes. Medium pepper tongue tingle that lasts in a bit of a tongue numbing finish. Not horrible for the price.
Tasted at the Forbidden Hole August 29 2023
Appearance: amber
Aroma: this smells like blackberries
Flavor: omg is something wrong with me? I taste the worst cough syrup ever plus band aids plus blackberry liqueur, all in the worst possible way.
My face is scrunched up from the yuck-o flavor and I can't get er back to normal.
This was much better than I expected for a rum at this price point. It has a nice color and decent flavor. Not too sweet with a little bit of burn. I let it breathe a while before trying, so it had mellowed a bit. I would say this is even borderline sippable, and very nice over ice.
This may be compounded after first tasting Diplomatica. In comparison, the flavor begins weak, while the aftertaste is a strong scratch down the throat.
Spent under $5 for two 50ml trial size bottles at TW. I was not expecting much but after letting this rum breathe for 15 minutes I am really not that disappointed. Nice dark amber color. Aroma was a bit sweet and woody with very little alcohol burn. Taste was a bit flat and sweet with a little burn but really not bad. Will never win any awards but for a bottom shelf rum it really is not too bad.
Saw this โnewโ rum on the shelf at Total. Not a bad price so grabbed a bottle. Got home and poured my a taste and then looked it up here. It was not listed. So I did some research.
The company that imports and bottles is a big company that also does Cane Island and several others. This was not listed on their site - I guess too new.
As for the drink itself, nice dark rich color. Sweet on the nose. A bit of a burn holding it, but the taste is smooth and mellow. Actually not bad. Most likely will be a mixer for me.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Sweet flavor and not much else but alcohol burn. Would work as a mixer.
