Cubaney Centenario 25-30-Year

I would compare this one to the Centenario 30. It's a bit rounder, less wood and more vanilla. Got it for a friend, but would definitely buy one for my collection

C est un rhum exceptionnel, beaucoup plus fort en goût que le 25 ans et 21 ans. Mais surtout un peu plus puissant et moins sucré. A noter que je préfère celui là dans la gamme cubaney, mais chez Oliver Oliver je préfère les Opthimus 25 (9.5) Ans et surtout le Quorhum 30( 9.8).
Il a une petite amertume en finale, que j aime moins malgré un goût très intéressant.
Note globale 9.0.Au regard du prix élevé je conseille plus le 25 Ans plus doux. Ou l esclavo xo cask beaucoup plus fort en goût mais un peu abrasif qui sont à 80e.

Smooth and complex and not overly sweet. And the bottle looks good on the cabinet.

This top rum from Cubaney has a lot more to offer than the 25 YO. It has a good balance between, power, sweetness and spices, and you can't sense the alchohol in it.

Nose : I find toffee, brown sugar, vanilla, spices, oak and a soft power.

Taste : I find vanilla, spices, power and oak. The aftertaste is deep sweetness with a little dark chocolate and a good power!

...há planícies sem fim... Mas cá em baixo há um rum de topo, a um preço ainda aceitável. Mais sério, intenso e complexo que os outros que provei, doçura muito controlada e algum "iodo" a flutuar na língua. Vale bem o que custa, um prazer mais selectivo, para quem já tem alguma experiência em rum.

je to sice oliver a oliver, ich rumy nesu urcite podobne znaky ale musim povedat ze tento im vysiel asi najlepsie. dlho som nemal moznost ochutnat, lebo mi to okolnosti nedovolovali a nechcel som si dalsieho "podobneho" olivera kupovat domov, mam ich uz dost, ale oslovil ma natolko ze je to dalsia flasa ktora pribudne do mojej zbierky. toto je presne co mam rad, trafili mi chut na 90%, uplna parada. ako uz zname u OaO je to sladsi rum, ale chutovo vyrazny... no proste parada. 9,1/10

Cubaney has a new package. It looks better than the old one in my opinion.
I know some other rums that go in that direction (QRM30, Cubaney 21 and 25). They are not that good but a way cheaper.
Yes, there are some similarities with QRM30. QRM has more sherry aroma, more wood, more alcohol in the nose. Cubaney is more balanced, more intense in the taste, it's heavier, I think it's older.
But QRM has a better value for the price.
So why is it a 9? Easy to explain, there is too much sherry influence, you can not recognize the original rum. Yes it's tasty, it's complex and intensive, but sherry is not a distillery character and also not a note that is typical for DomRep rums.

Smell: Caramel, wood, some sherry, fruits/dry fruits (apricot, cherries, peach), burned sugar. Very nice, very smooth, well balanced.

Taste initial: Caramel, sweetness, red fruits, fruits (apricot)
Middle: wood with apricots, honey, sherry
Finish: spice, burned suggar, again wood with apricots.
Aftertaste: Sherry and cherry compote, dry apricot (I expected that, typical for Oliver & Oliver).

Sweetness: 2.5/5
Spice: 2.5/5
Fruit: 3.5/5
Mildness: 4/5
Value (80€): 2.5/5

Quorhum 30 (not that balanced)
Cubaney 21 and 25 (not that balanced, more spicy)

the scent has coconut, wood, little smoke and also sweet and spicy.

Taste: Very good balance between sweet and spicy. Flavours of light tobacco, vanilla, tofee cola and medium to dark chocolate.

I would give a rating between 8-8.5.
