This makes a great mix, could sip in a bind. Glad I tried it, will definitely try others of the same brand.
Solid for price.
Without specific notes, great for cocktails.
Lehký rum s nevýrazným, lehce dřevitým aroma, ve kterém dominují nejspíše citrusy. Chutí ničím neohromí, ale ani neurazí. Je jemná a trochu nasládlá. V této cenové relaci můžu tuhle lahev určitě doporučit k vyzkoušení.
Drinks more like a bourbon or whiskey than a rum, which caught me off guard.
Smells strongly of demerara, milk chocolate, white chocolate, vanilla.
Very smooth, sugary flavor carries through. Earthy and a bit peaty on the finish with notes of bitter dark chocolate.
Good mixer, bit rough to drink neat.
A bit rough for an aged rum... Match the Angostura rum with Angostura bitters, coke and lime... won’t disappoint!
For the money, it can serve in a cocktail. It would also be decent in a rum cake.
Nothing special at all. Standard column still blandness. Some cool oak character but nothing memorable. Too much alcohol burn and harshness to sip on.
I bought this bottle to complete a cocktail recipe I've been working on:
The Angostura Sour
0.5 oz Egg White or Aquafaba
1 oz Lemon Juice
0.75 oz Rich Demerara Simple Syrup
1.5 oz Amaro di Angostura
1 oz Angostura 5yr Rum
2 Dashes Angostura Bitters
Reverse dry shake (make sure to double strain)
Serve in chilled sour glass or other medium-volume stemware
It is a thoroughly typical aged rum. Mediocre aroma, no interesting flavor notes, not very smooth.
It has that nice buttery almost floral, sweet vanilla-ed nose. It’s pretty distinctive.
"It is sweet with a nice hit of vanilla ice cream and some slightly spicy dark chocolate, almost cocoa like notes."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I’m a relative novice as it relates to tasting. But to me it smelt a bit rough/ alcohol, some vanilla / clove notes. Tasted a bit as smelt, plus butter caramel afterwards. Not refined, per other comments. Better mixed in my opinion.
