Not extra special rum. Taste of Cocoa, Caramell , honey, vanilla, spicy.

Was expecting something bad, but surprised at how good it actually was. Had a bottle from DR and it does taste a bit different than the ones sold here in NYC.

It smells medicinal and harsh and it burns and bites a good deal. It's not very complex and fairly dry. It is at best, mediocre and considering its price point (typically $20+,) I would recommend skipping it.

Some tanned leather here and a little oak. Really not super complex. Just had a taste of this solo before I used it for a Cuba Libre. Not really worth the extra dollars over the cheaper dark Brugal.

I find Dominicans to be vegetative tasting, similar to Jamaican rums, I presume because of latitude and proximity. Either way, nothing real special here but ok selection for the price range. Stronger earthy flavour compared to bacardi etc. Im not a big fan of bourbon barrels no matter how faint.

Not much happening here. I like the lack of added sugar, and when in the Domincan this was the value play of choice with the locals, but the lack of complexity made this a mediocre choice.

This is one of the favorites for the dominican people, and they know their rum. The price is also very good. It is a quality product full stop. A sipper for sure, but will also enhance all mixers.

Won’t go wrong with this one, smooth, tasty and all round lekker rum

On the nose, I smell wood-like odour with a little strong alcohol smell. I don't like the smell and other scents that it should contain according to Brugal (such as dry fruits, almonds, cocoa, vanilla, orange peel, caramel and molasses) don't show up for me.

Palate: tiny bit of sweet spice, slightly sharp, woody and you taste the alcohol flavour quite strongly. But I enjoy the heat. According to Brugal and on the back of the label, it should taste smooth and like ''wood''. This one is definitely not smooth.

Finish: Short and sharp/peppery.

Better to mix this rum than drink it pure.

Very Mild aroma. Great tastes of raisins and spices are followed by brown sugar. Overall a good Rum.
