Tried a few Brugal offerings and I tend to steer clear. In Hawaii this week and this one was staring at me from behind the bar. I never tried it so I gave it a shot. Too much wood and bite. Not enough body or balance. Finish short. Standard Brugal flavor profile. Standard harsh bite. In a word “forgettable.” Let’s hope it reminds me to continue to steer clear of Brugal.

A nice rum to drink, straight up, spicy, cocoa, and vanilla taste.

Decent rum, good taste to price ratio. Some ice will suffice.

Tasted at Laka Lono on 5/7/19. Amber in color with pretty much nothing remarkable. Bland and needed to be disguised in a daiquiri.

A lot of caramel with some hint of spices on the nose, which comes through on the palate, kind of centered at the front. Flavor doesn't linger as much as other rums, even though it coats the tongue nicely. It's definitely lighter than other aged rums, but has more complexity in the flavor. A step up from other rums for cocktails, if you want more complexity and flavor to break through the citrus, sugar and spices.

A little rough straight as a sipper but makes a good mixed drink with coke. The bottle is kind of cool to.

Smooth through and through. Always takes me to a Dominican beach when drinking this. Really good with orange juice

My brother picked this one up, and I was very new to the world of rum at this point.

I was surprised by the bold flavor and sweetness of it, it was not what I expected at all. I'd love to try this one again now that my tastes and experience have both matured a bit more.
