Hamilton and Beachbum Berry team up again with this blend of Jamaican, Guyanese, Trinidad, and Demerara rums built specifically for use in the tiki classic “Navy Grog”. Unlike the Zombie blend, which I found to be too harsh for most applications, this blend is tamer and has a flexible profile. Smells of cinnamon and has a pleasing baking spice-forward taste, caramel, with dried fruits to finish. I don’t get much from the Jamaican rum, which is a little disappointing, but otherwise this blend makes for a pretty respectable base for most drinks, not just its namesake. Well priced for a 1L too, though it is hard to resist the temptation to DIY blends at home since Hamilton’s standard line is so impressive and fairly inexpensive to boot.
