As opposed to its gold counterpart, this rum is actually decent in cocktails.

Maybe I am harsh giving 3.0 mark but can't see anything happening in the glass. I remember drinking white Botran and I was amazed by its freshness. James Cook is just weird. It is not bad but just something is missing. Even Cuba libre version feels not complete. I think it will be probably best served in caipirinha way or daiquiri. It reminds me somehow very light version of 51.

Super cheap but really strange in a bad way. Strangely, it is not harsh which considering the price is really unusual. All in all, considering the price - not horrible but far from a good drink (cannot call it rum 🙂 ). Although, it is decent choice for mixing with cola.
