This is a blend from Venezuela, Guatemala and DomRep. 3y young spirit at 40%.

Smell: It starts like Plantation XO with sweet vanilla, coconut and some almonds. Barerely noticeable in the background are some raisins or some banana. Vanilla dominates the smell. It's not a complex smell but it's pleasant.

Taste: First impression is "diluted", almonds with some banana (some bitter notes from the spirit). Then the honey sweetness rises, vanilla and coconut take over.
The finish is sweet vanilla and coconut with some bitter spirit notes.

Result: Not bad for 8 bucks. If you like Plantation XO, this could be pleasant. Of course, it's not as intense and round as Plantation, but my first association was in that direction.
I was surprised that no Barbados rum was blended like in the Plantation. But overall this blend is not bad. I would answer the question about the added sugar with yes. However, it was not overdone.

After some days the good aromas evaporated, there is no coconut anymore. The fresh bottle would be around 65 points, after some days it transformed into 55 points I would say.

Bought in the German discount supermarket Penny, who sometimes has good alcohol at low prizes. Not this time.
Imported and (possibly) blended by Kastell-Markenspirituosen, D-84056 Rottenburg.
It says on the bottle to be the "Best of Carribean and Latin American Rums". I beg to differ.

The colour is reddish gold, which is meaningless, since colouring agent has been added (it says so on the bottle).

The nose is promising, giving some funk, lots of sweetness, without being cloying, and some brandy-like notes. Not very intense, but good enough and clearly rummy. There is some alcohol on the nose, but nothing too bad.
Sipped, it is very sweet at first. Then something bitter joins in. And a lot of alcoholic taste. On the plus side, there is some nuttiness and some nutmeg. Also some mulled wine, which could be good or bad, depending on your taste. I do not like it and found it quite artificial. What I really disliked is a perfumed note of chocolate, something I have so far only found in Gold of Mauritius (which I hate and will not drink). Possibly some vanilla. The finish is very short, with a hint of wood, which is generally agreeable. But not enough aroma otherwise.

With cola, the disgusting perfumy note is very dominant. Not good.
With ginger beer, it goes slightly better, but still not very good. Too muted and not powerful enough on the one hand, too perfumy and icky if you add more rum. The spices are quite nice and with the help of some lime, it is possible to mix something more or less enjoyable. But I still felt sorry for the waste of good ginger beer.

Not recommended.

I would skip this and go for one of the (equally cheap) traditional German rums with Jamaica rum in them. Those work much better as a mixer, and even neat I like most of them better.

At first, it did not seem so bad. I only bought it twice because nothing else was available.
My main complaint is that it makes a terrible hangover. I felt really sick after having just a few drinks. It's a cheap rum, but others in the same price bracket provide a better value.
