A little known but still quite good rum from Jamaica 7 out of 10
This is a little distributed 40.5% rum from an independent British bottler that focuses mainly on whisky. It was recommended to me by a Czech importer on Rumfest as their new 2021 release. The label says it is a combination of sugar syrup and herbs, so it is more of a spiced rum. I didn't learn much about the age of the rum from the label. Given the color, it's probably a young rum.
Bottle: Nothing particularly interesting.
Colour: Rather transparent, slightly greenish.
Nose: This rum's greatest asset. The so-called Jamaican funk - overripe fruit and esters - is very noticeable here. It is such a mix of banana, coconut, mango, herbs and flowers.
Mouth: It's quite dry, more woody, more bitter. There's a touch of unsweet fruit and grassiness.
Finish: It's medium-long and the bitterness mellows over time.
Finish: As I wrote, the best thing about this rum is the top-notch overripe fruit. The taste, however, is not very distinctive. I wouldn't buy the whole bottle.
