Selvarey Cacao

Brought this to my friends house. He's a scotch/bourbon snob - gotta be cask strength, single malt, yada yada. He was skeptical but this rum blew him away. We drank almost half the bottle after dinner. Great digestif. You can taste the aging/woody notes. Chocolate is spot on, not overpowering or too sweet. Loved it!

Who knew this combination would be so enticing? Typically rum is associated with vanilla flavor but the chocolate is unique and special. This is very smooth and complex and is perfect for after dinner. So far have only seen it in California, but will pick some up next time I am there.

The first time I took a sip (over ice in a whiskey glass) the Coco flavor was over powering and I wasn't sure what to think. Didn't hate it, but wasn't expecting it either. Had one glass, but couldn't get the flavor out of my mind the rest of the night. Next day poured another glass knowing what to expect and fell in love with this stuff. Unique and goes down soooo easy with zero burn. Drinks like wine in that sense and definitely very dangerous as you can find yourself half gone in no time. Quality all around and I highly recommend. Not sweet, not bitter, but like an amazing rum highlighted by a very natural Coco flavor. Great stuff.

I have NEVER enjoyed flavored rums, but after trying SelvaRey's White Rum and enjoying it, I thought I would give this a try. I was pleasantly surprised to find that SelvaRey Cacao is not some syrupy nonsense, but an actual high-quality spirit that uses real raw cacao in their infusion process with no other additives. On the nose, the aroma is intense and warm. Cacao, caramel, and maybe some clove. On the palate, it is definitely sweet but not what I was expecting, as it is balanced very nicely and you can tell that you are drinking alcohol. Decided to pour a shot into my coffee and was the furthest thing from disappointed. To any coffee drinkers, thank me later. To rum aficionados, view this as something unique that allows you to step out of your comfort zone!

Best creation ever!!! Love this chocolate rum by itself or mixed with an espresso martini!!

This is simply, the best-flavoured rum I've ever tasted. It's too easy to drink, to the point of questioning whether it's legal or not. Absolutely killer taste profile, and mixed in a cocktail (of roughly any variety) or an espresso rum mix, it's downright inappropriate. This is my first review, but I keep a giant robot next to my Selvarey to protect it.

I'm not one for flavored liquors but did SelvaRey do a fine job with this one? The cacao aroma is so subtle and delicious ..foodies will love it!

I am not huge on sweets but the dark chocolate, hazelnut and espresso bean notes I get from this Chocolate rum are fantastic! Add the SelvaRey Coconut rum with the Chocolate for an Almond Joy delight :)

This is more like cacao than chocolate and I truly love that about this bottle.
The flavors are not what you'd expect - I was so pleasantly surprised and will be coming back for more.

My highest rated rum yet! Very smooth and practically no alcohol burn. However, the strong cacao smell and flavor would limit this to more of a 'dessert' drink for me. But because it goes down so easy, I'd have a very long dessert...
