My first impressions of Severed Hand Roasted Hazelnut were not that great truth be told, because on the nose it smells more orangey than hazel-nutty! However, my opinions of this rum dramatically improved upon first sip. On the palate this rum is both delicious and sweet, thanks to the roasted hazelnut flavouring, with an alcohol burn that I would describe as mellow. Unfortunately, that scrumptious taste I am eluding to, is somewhat conspicuous by its absence in the finish and for that matter, albeit to a lesser degree when mixed with Coca-Cola. So, bar it’s weird aroma, and the lack of taste in said finish, there is still plenty to like about this rum, especially for a rum enthusiast like myself, who prefers his rums flavoured, and the sweeter the better.
