Velmi příjemná Jamajka, zlehka nasládlá, dostařování po cognac dělá své

It looks very good on paper: 15-year-old Jamaica rum, mostly ex-Bourbon casks, high ABV, no added sugar, and a decent price. But after trying it I am overall disappointed. The basic profile of an aged Jamaica rum is present but the nose and taste remind me of aged Cachaça and Agricole. It is fresh, light, spicy, and fruity but it lacks the more heavy body that you would expect from the age statement. It was not what I expected and not what I mostly enjoy. I give it a score of 6.5.

Rich amber with gold reflections in the glass.
Soft and elegant on the nose. Like a daily market in the tropics, scents of all sorts of tropical fruits in all stages of ripeness, from still green to tarnished, are a delight. Caramel, vanilla and spices are harmoniously balanced with wood notes. The "funk" tries to break it up a bit.
Elegant yet wild on the palate. Fruit crushed in wooden vats mixes its pulp with vanilla sauce and bits of caramel. Wood tones from the cognac barrel are clearly perceptible. Spices and a good dash of funk provide surprises.
Long and varied finish. Caramel and vanilla linger long, yet are gone before the fruit. Wood lingers longest with the funky nuances.
A great rum with no added sugar. For beginners, connoisseurs and Jamaica lovers. 8+.

This is one of Plantation's zero added sugar (dosage), limited release rums. Pure pot still, open fermentation, it's pretty low on the esters at about 100g/hectolitre. Aged 13 years in Jamaica in bourbon barrels, then 2 years in France in ex cognac casks. Bottled at 48.4%.

Smell is something I haven't come across before. It's soft, an amalgam of overripe fruit, garden shed petrochemicals and a very subtle funk. Considering the alcohol percentage, it's very restrained yet gives its age away.

Taste initially is soft, balanced. All the flavours smelled, there in the taste, with just a touch of sweetness coming through. Then the alcohol slowly arrives and the taste deepens, the wood starts to come through, as it evolves into an incredibly long dry finish, the funk finally beginning to come up with just enough underlying sweetness to give it balance.

This is much more understated than Hampden, and really shows Clarendon's own distinctive style of rum. There really aren't that many pure pot still rums out there, and for a rum this age, this is a bargain.

Fantastic nose and a great entry to Jamaican rum for those of us that aren't completely sold on the funk. A bit of banana funk, but also baking spice and the right amount of kick. Not overly complex, but not basic, and it ends sweet, even more so on ice.

Not the typical Jamaica, indeed, something new under the sun. Almost tart, more dry than oily, long rich aftertaste.
Ferrand cask doesn't dominate like it can in others Plantations.
Dried fruits, oranges, maybe be berries, notes of tobacco and slight funk makes it charming.

Destilováno / Nalahvováno: 2007 / 2022
Fermentace: 3 - 4 dny
Těkavé látky: 337 g/hlAA
Estery: 102 g/hlAA

Sladkost: 0/3
Ochutnán vzorek
V porovnání s Plantation MMW (ptačí série 2020) dosti zaostává. Sice pohodově pitelná Jamajka, ale nijak zvlášť mě nezaujala.

It has a great balance. I am a plantation fan. It had caramel notes but you still feel a little lemongrass.
